I am the asshole type of attorney who never got around to doing my own will. So...I am doing one now. Do you know what you're doing? If not, there's a good chance you will do more harm than good by doing a will. If you die intestate, I am pretty sure it all goes to your wife. If you are going to tr...

Since I've already made this about me... Finally got around to going to a new therapist since my old guy retired at 92. Fucking quitter. After a couple sessions, she pauses and says, "your brain isn't normal. You don't operate the way most people do." As we continued to discuss the way my...

Guys seriously how do you deal with this feeling of dread? I'm not so much scared of getting sick as I am of the way other people are going to act if this gets bad. All the medical professionals in my life are really highly concerned and it's starting to get me really churned up. I'm sure I'm overr...

Gotta question - what would a national quarantine look like? Would they give notice for people to get back home, for instance? Quinn and his girlfriend are with relatives south of Asheville (he drove) in lieu of his school trip to France - and I need to make sure they can get back home - so... I do...

So ... a family member on my wife's side died unexpectedly a few days ago in San Antonio. We weren't particularly close to the person who died, but my wife's sister was. They're not having a funeral, but a really small viewing in a few days. My wife and I really don't want to fly there. Driving wou...

Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
I just went to my local grocery store for a few things ... it was closed.
Apparently they've gone to reduced hours, so will open at 10 today. And if that's to allow more employees to stay home, I guess that's a good thing. But it was pretty eerie to walk up to locked doors in broad daylight.

Eh, it's a one-year thing. And you can only play so many guys anyway. That's what I was figuring. There's already enough "unfairness" built into the system when one school has a bunch of kids graduate or leave all at once and the competition doesn't. It's not exactly the same thing, but a...

NCAA athletes petitioning for another year of eligibility. Logistical nightmare to have seniors come back, given roles and minutes promised to recruits. That said, heartbreaking for these seniors. Heck, how do you even decide how many scholarships a team would have, just for next year? There's 13 f...

First thing that jumps to my mind based on bk code is what would be the way for creditors to avoid loss of value of collateral and when could they (and what procedure) to get ok to foreclose/repo. To me this is just shifting the problem from debtors to creditors. Those creditors have financing arra...

Yes, that's what I would assume. I don't personally need to know, but it's an important data point for people who are smart enough to actually use it. Also, Steve's post did say "They said that only two came back positive". I don't know if he meant that, but that's a big difference from w...

I Have a Plan for That
Help me save the economy. I've drafted the outline of a proposed bill to submit to my state legislators. The idea is to have the legislature declare a "suspension period", where pre-existing debts, rents, mortgages, utilities, and insurance premiums would not need to be paid. It basically ...

I guess what my last question meant was, "if it's not "officially" counted for some reason, is there an argument to be made that it should?" I can't imagine this has as few consequences as it would seem. I don't think it's a matter of official versus unofficial counting. I think...

I don't know enough about the specifics, but I assume that is part of the point. It doesn't sound good though. Am I missing something, or is this a really dishonest tweet from Bernie? https://twitter.com/SenSanders/status/1238223131204030466?s=20 The way I understand it, what the Fed is doing is taking its own money and lending it to banks by buying bonds. It transfers money to the banks but gets financial a...

Ten percent drop in the DJIA today. The index hasn't been this low since June 8, 2017.
The S&P is also basically where it was in the summer of 2017.

(Honestly, in a weird way, a legit worst case scenario for the election in November is Trump dying in the next couple of weeks and Pence somehow pulling things together after.) Maybe I’m wrong but I think it’d be easy for any Democrat to beat Pence in a general election, even if Pence projects comp...
