Re: Ronde Barber
Yeah, that's a hell of a long career for a speed position. When the Barbers were at UVA, Ronde was good first - immediately, actually, I think he made the freshman All-American team. Throughout his career, he was sort of like Deion - teams just didn't throw to his half of the field. Later, as Tiki b...

I thought it looked really fake when I saw Clash of the Titans in the theater a million years ago. I still thought it was cool though.
And yeah, that skeleton scene was really well done though. Much better than Clash.

Re: Cicadas
There are different broods that emerge at different intervals (always prime numbers of years, I believe). There will be some cicadas every year, but in some years you get a LOT. I think the 17-year brood that emerges this year is a particularly large one.

BTW, anyone see Charles Barkley comment on Collins? I meant to post his TNT pregame show round table. He said every player in the NBA has played with gay players, and he knows of at least 3 or 4 teammates that were gay. He made it sound like he knew at the time, and that his teammates knew at the t...

Two observations about the George Jones Pandora radio station : 1. There's a lot of crappy country music. Just really lame, sappy, tinkly-piano kind of ballad crap. Luckily a few downvotes of Alan Jackson and the like have made it much better. 2. Of the remaining stuff, about one in four songs name ...

You know, I've never bought the whole notion that a locker room would be a hostile place for an out gay athlete. Sure, you can always get some athletes to take the bait and say they'd never coexist with a gay teammate, but in reality, it would be fine. Every team has players who are different, who d...

Shortly after I posted that great Iggy Pop story, I created an Iggy Pop-based station in Pandora. I've been listening to it for a couple of weeks and it's awesome. Keep. You took on all the risk by taking your house off the market, trusting that they could really buy it. The fact that your house resold quickly should be irrelevant. And it's not just four days after you relisted - it's all the time between accepting their offer and your getting a new one. That ...

I'm sort of surprised the Moscow subway runs on schedule enough for the dogs to figure out the routine. I'm guessing it's not time based.
