Very interesting that that comes from foxnews.com. But I made the mistake of actually reading the article. Hoo boy. A great example of "the worst person in the world made a good point."

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
Since I don’t really have anything else going on and I’ll probably never get the opportunity again I decided to apply for a post office job for the Antarctic summer (October to April) at McMurdo Station, Antarctica and I passed the first round of vetting. So still many rounds to go but wish me luck...

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I just finished Season 2 of The Wire last night. At this point you can put me in Team Wire for that argument between The Sopranos and The Wire. I think it just has a more compelling storyline than Sopranos, which didn't seem to have as much of a constant through line. I'd still rate Breaking Bad and...

Re: More Backroom Deals Than Tammany Hall - A Youth Soccer Tale
When I coached my boys in rec soccer, I mapped out the lineups and sub patterns ahead of time, because it's too hard during the games. I'd have my assistant use the sheet and run a timer. Of course, that was often difficult too, because invariably a kid or two wouldn't show or would show up late. I ...

Sure, I get that. It wasn't hard to decipher. The international angle is an interesting part of it. But what I'm talking about is a room full of highly-paid (maybe?) writers who have a job writing for an extremely popular show. And they have to write shit like that. And while that may have been a dr...

I like the idea, but I hate Virginia being in the Northeast. They have little connection to most of those schools (other than VT, and MD. Maybe WVU).

Didn't we have an 80s v 90s thread at some point? Or I am hallucinating that? Not sure if this is pro or con. Both. https://www.twitter.com/Decker6/status/1291184104235397120 I'm very curious about the writers' room on shows like that. How does that work? Are they hacks? Are they embittered old wri...

Several Rivians and a Polestar in our neighborhood. We are going to get an electric SUV this year, but those Rivians are pricey! Looking more likely we get a Hyundai Ionic 5 or a Kia. Nice looking, highly rated, less expensive electrics. I was all set to get either the Ionic or the Kia until I look...

Well, I bought mine used and I try not to think about Elon too much when I drive it. There were lots of lots good engineers who really deserve the credit that everyone loves to give him. And for the most part, he built those things before he took that crazy right-turn a few years ago.

I had to drop my Model Y at the Tesla service center this weekend (the battery suddenly stopped charging). The first vehicle I saw in their shop being worked on was a Cyber Truck. Thing couldn't have been on the road for long before that.

Holy shit, Cole Palmer. Thank you, City! And with his 4th goal, he's now tied with Haaland for first in the PL! Nobody would have guessed that anyone on Chelsea would be challenging for that. He's also one assist shy of tying the league lead there as well. Hell of a season for the Brit-looking lad!

Great question. And I agree that increasing the size of the court - and possibly the lane - would help. It's kind of wild to think about the size of players today compared to when the court size was decided. Obviously, there are logistical issues with increasing the size of courts at some older gym...

I'm trying to figure out where the 4th foot is. And the logistics of two sets of functioning genitals. Did he pee out of both? Did both drain the same bladder? I guess his brain was able to figure out how to control all of that?

From the outside, it seems like a pretty smart hire. BYU finished with a better rating than Kentucky this year. Guess which team had better talent? And BYU plays that ultra-modern offense of a ton of threes and layups. I think they were #4 in the country in the % of their shots from the 3pt line. I...

Re: Movies
I couldn't love Alien or Aliens much more. They're both brilliant movies. But I haven't really liked a movie in the series since. Alien 3 was a huge disappointment. Prometheus was better, but still wasn't that good. It certainly didn't live up to the hype. I hope they get this one right. I'm curious...

I don't know my most quoted movie line ever, but that's in contention. I've seen the whole movie, but never in sequential order. There's one scene where they start a scene in the huddle on the face of a Vietnamese guy I grew up with who was in extra in the movie as an OL. I hope he didn't get typec...

It was a bit of a roster problem at Chelsea. The team was up and down during his time, with a number of different managers. But the one position they constantly had surplus in was wingers. It was hard for any player to get consistent minutes there. That said, I think Chelsea should have played him m...

I've been to the World's Largest Chest of Drawers many times. It's the facade of a huge furniture mall. NC in general and High Point in specific used to be the center of the US furniture manufacturing. I don't think that's really been true for decades now, but I think several furniture companies sti...
