Re: MLB Post Season 2019

Exactly—it’s still possible to go up 3-2 and force Cole to pitch Game 6 (which is a pretty reasonable way to attack the series), but they gave up 2 chances to make that easier.

I know this game is basically over already, but what’s the justification for sending Sevy back to face the top of the order after having to stand around idle for 20 minutes?

Re: NFL Week 6 - Healthy Spleens All Around

So far in 2019, there are 9.14 total flags per team per game (including declined and offsetting). That's exactly 2 flags per team more than the number in 2012, just seven years ago. That's four more flags per game, a 28% increase in seven years. People aren't doing more penalties now than they did t...

If Donald Trump were sentient, he'd see the opportunity to take a pretty warranted shot at China (you know, the people he's in a trade war with) and pick a fight with the country's second most influential black man in one movement.

Re: MLB Post Season 2019

Yeah, them not having to use a 4th starter and our pen losing a rest day would be some real double shit. I assume in the playoffs you don't have the same flexibility as the regular season in pushing up start times for known future weather. I'm not sure the Astros can really ram their 3-man rotation...

At some point you have to tolerate the hand checking and holding that goes on every single play. That’s better than guys running into each other at 100MPH, right?

Re: MLB Post Season 2019

I’m worried that this rooting for the Rays thing is going to turn out like the Democrats rooting for Trump in the primaries. If they can beat a first ballot HOFer by starting a middle reliever, what further damage can they inflict on the game in the next two rounds?

Right, they wanted to fit the playoffs in between the 2 international breaks. I don't love it because of the midweek games, but the solution to that problem (fewer teams) doesn't seem to be on the table.

This is kind of like Walter Cronkite on Vietnam. I don't think Coach K is being ideological at all, he's a realist. And I think he's figured out over the last couple of years who is ultimately going to win on this issue and his comments have gradually moved towards what he's saying today.

That Twins fan had the right idea on the Gleyber HR—fan interference is the only chance that gets taken away. If he wore a Yankees hoodie he would have had a better chance of getting the call.

In the meantime, can we call him up for U23 games? Netherlands did not qualify for the Olympics, while we still can (and must, in my opinion).
