Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread

To be fair, it is hard to react to rising case numbers because they reflect both that infections are going up, which is a bad thing, and that testing is increasing, which is a good thing. Nobody is testing the entire population or anything close to it. Okay maybe Bahrain is getting close. Everybody ...

More bad news. https://twitter.com/ezraklein/status/1238607205126922240?s=20 Eh, a chart showing total cases and comparing a 330M population country to a 60M one doesn’t tell me a lot, especially when people in the 330M country have the benefit of knowing what happened in the 60M one. Also, Italy i...

The OFFICIAL 2020 Self-Quarantine Thread

I thought I would create a separate thread as a place for people to get away from the more depressing aspects of COVID-19 and discuss how they are passing the time. The books, the video games, the new hobbies, the recipes, anything, preferably something constructive but that's not a hard rule.

Yes, that's what I would assume. I don't personally need to know, but it's an important data point for people who are smart enough to actually use it. Also, Steve's post did say "They said that only two came back positive". I don't know if he meant that, but that's a big difference from withholding ...

Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread

Basically the testing is critical to getting people (and especially hospitals) accurate information about who has the virus, and that's why the lack of availability is scandalous. But testing is not what's going to stop the virus--the only thing that will do that is everybody shutting it down for a ...

I guess it's also Dish's fault that they can't do a deal with Sinclair, and SlingTV and Fubo's fault that they can't do a deal with Sinclair, and it will be Comcast's fault when they can't do a deal with Sinclair later this year.

It occurs to me that the Parasite ending is 100% a spin on Raising Arizona. I can’t stop thinking about that. There’s a lot of obvious Coen Brothers influence the whole time, but that ending is basically Raising Arizona made way darker for a 21st century audience. So maybe it was all necessary.
