Re: Sciatica! Sciatica!
I get it once a year or so. Usually just goes away after a couple weeks, never did anything for it other than contorting in whatever way brings temporary relief. Guy I play tennis with tried everything and eventually had to have surgery. I didn't ask specifics, but he is finally back to playing and...

Yeah, I watched it once many years ago. Don't really remember it, but I remember that it was weird and didn't really do it for me at the time. I hadn't yet developed my love for the Coen brothers yet (other than Raising Arizona) though, so maybe another try will be better. BTW, I'm gonna try to catc...

Agree with this. Counterpoint. Does the USA (or the world) have the ability to ever produce Shaq again? I refuse to believe there is no place on an NBA Finals team for diesel. I suspect that we'll see a Shaq-like big man at some point in the near future. As teams go smaller/skinnier someone with tr...

I'd recommend going to a chiropractor and see if they have a spinal decompression machine. If they do and it helps, then you might consider getting an inversion table and using that at home. I think forfeiting a game is too severe. And it would complicate rankings, records, etc. A large fine for the home team ought to do it. Arenas already have a ton of ushers and security. They can use them better and/or hire more to handle the security. Some arenas already handle this properly. I know...

I finally got around to watching The Wire. One episode to go in S1. It's as good as advertised. I didn't recognize young Wallace as Michael B Jordan until way late in the season. I guess I hadn't thought about how old the show is. (Another thing for the feeling old thread, I suppose)

To play devil's advocate here, the study of history, particularly in a high school US History class, by necessity has to skip or elide a lot of events. I mean, you're often going to cover 50 or more years in a couple of pages in a book. A lot of shit happens all the time! For example, how many of yo...

We watched the whole (I think) Eyes on the Prize documentary in US History when I was in high school. It was so good and eye-opening. 5. And their change in tone from their first one. For a movie where a guy gets grenaded, it’s really kind-hearted. The fact that they can change genres basically at will. What talent. That's a great point. Other than the crime subplot, these two movies couldn't be more different. That's a hell of a...

Probably the tightest intro/backstory sequence of any movie. Could teach a whole film class on that alone. Absolutely. The pre-credits stuff with Hi and Cage's narration is just incredible. When the credits finally kick in - it's probably more than 10 minutes into the movie - it just cracks you up ...

I typically think of an artist I want to listen to and then go through their albums in sequence.
If I need a longer, more random playlist, I create a radio station based off an artist. I have a few of those set to download on my phone so I always have music if I'm offline.

That Defector piece was good. Hard to believe a coach who had 30 players drafted by the NBA never advanced a team past the sweet 16. Yeah, that definitely affected his national reputation and lasting impact. In fairness, some of his best teams played in the days of only one bid and he was in the AC...

The acc coaches of that generation were great. Cremins, Terry Holland, all 3 in research triangle. I just read (listened to) Feinstein's book about K, Smith, and Jimmy V. It was a great read, especially since V and K joined the ACC right around the time I was getting into it (the Sampson years). Th...
