Re: 2014 NCAA Tourney Thread

I love how Michigan and the NCAA held Chris Webber up as an example of a bad guy: officially forfeited all the accomplishments of the Fab Five, took down banners of those teams, returned tournament money, and banned him for 10 years BUT they're all to happy to have him sport his old Michigan jersey...

What was the flag for? Looked clean to me. There's nothing better than popping a goalie! 2014 NFHS rule change. Rule 5-3-5 stipulates that a body check that targets a player in a defenseless position is illegal and specifies a minimum two- to three-minute non releasable penalty for this violation. ...

Re: The Jurgen Klinsman Experience

Here's the bottom line: We have a B squad capable of winning the Gold Cup, in pretty convincing fashion. We have more depth than we've ever had in our player pool. We are not, and probably won't be in my lifetime, a team that can trot out a C team end expect results against most teams from Europe or...

If anyone is worried about Brooks and/or Onyewu even being on the squad in Brazil, they are clearly envisioning some kind of catastrophe befalling our A, B and C squads. And I feel sorry for that person (because it's clearly a crazy, lone person). Because that's no way to live life, man. (To this po...

I haven't seen the game... which says a bit about how much importance I think you should place on this result. It is a weird, experimental batch of players, it's in Europe, an already suspect overall defensive unit plucked two of the more wobbly/wonky guys to "shore up the middle." I know ...

Taken as a stand alone, it was fucking hilarious. But any of my coaches had gone public with that kind of shit, forget about me playing hard or trusting the guy again. I'm transferring ASAP. I've been a curmudgeon on this issue for 20 years, so I don't really have any problem saying there are too many bowls and the corporate sponsorships further adds to the cheapening/sullying of the traditions of the game. As I've gotten older, and college football has increasingly become a semi-profes...

Yeah, we had something kind of/sort of go down like that in Dupont Circle in DC last time we got a good snow dump. Huge snowball fight, and pelting of cars, only one of them happened to contain a plain clothes police dude. He flipped out, got out of his unmarked car and I believe pulled out his gun....

You know, a fun game is to try and put yourselves in the shoes of another team's fan base. Granted, I'm pretty sure they were in a really easy group ...

* According to Grant Wahl (who someone on here inexplicably doesn't like, I forget who), the US got the worst travel schedule of all 32 teams. I'm not sure how he did that math, but the fact that we're in the NE part of the country, in the jungle, is not good for us. Yes, both teams play in the same...

The Korean gymnast first pitch would be impressive if they threw the ball as part of the spinning, flipping motion. That was a classic case of let's just take the win and move on.
