Oh no, you're totally right. The former I am fine with, it's an opinion like anything else.

Re: Random Politics
To be clear, I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm just saying I think that trimming any vocabulary that could ever be offensive is bad precedent. From a practical perspective, I admit there are probably better choices of wording.

Yeah that strategy of being nice to the GOP fringe has worked out swimmingly thusfar. These people have no interest whatsoever in civility. Maybe that's something I just don't get about American politics, then. To me, civility is not a burden; I would not consider voting for anyone who did not disp...

I also think there’s a big difference in the societal value of what Cohen does based on whether he’s “punching up” or “punching down.”* These people have a lot of political power and influence: the views they hold, but might not say publicly, are a lot more consequential than yours or mine. *He can...

Re: Getting the spins
The Beach Boys get a lifetime pass for Pet Sounds, one of the best albums in the history of music. (Even if it was all Brian Wilson.). This isn’t a diss of The Who but at most three or four bands in history of music have put out an album as good as Pet Sounds. I don't see it, but that's fine. I als...

So yes, this is how these people think. And if Joe Walsh wants to cop out to being duped, he still fucking said what he said and at no point did he or any of the other interviewees pause look quizzically at the character and go 'is this a joke?' I think that was the point. Just find one gun nutter/lobbyist whose perspective is warped enough to bite and then you’ll have some vapid, empty suit politicians fall in line. The script they had them read from towards the end basically begged to be revealed as a joke, too. Bush propagandist turned ...

Towards shitty people Some times, yes. For instance, you'll not hear me object to anyone being "too rough" on Trump, who is a blithering incompetent bonehead of absolutely historic proportion. But Bee, in particular, is also unnecessarily mean-spirited, to my mind, towards *some* people w...

Towards shitty people Definitely, but I just don;t find her all that funny. She's expressing the opinions that many of us have, but it's missing the spark of wit. Exactly! I don't even disagree with her all that much, and she sometimes makes good points that others miss; for instance, she was the o...

Re: Random Politics
The way to look at satire like this, or the Daily Show, Sam Bee, john oliver etc., etc., is that it is entertainment for a specific audience. Preaching to the choir. Unlike the others, Sam Bee strikes me as something beyond what can justifiably be called satire. She ventures into the genuinely mean...

Better than a memory of her sucking a bone clean while winking at your grandpa. I'm not sure of this. I find the use of knife and fork for non-knife-and-fork foods to be incredibly disturbing behavior. Were it my loved one, I would be deeply concerned for their mental state. :) That said, I'm fairl...

I think it depends on where you are going to school. For Washington/Seattle area going to UW or SPU or Seattle U, no you don't NEED a car. Is this give AB random advice day? I didn't get the memo. LOL. Montreal, as far as I recall (I lived there for a few months, many years ago), has a very well developed transit system, and terrible traffic/roads, so objectively, it would probably make more sense not to have a car. However, she has h...

My daughter just scheduled her G2 road test, so that she can have a car whilst away at school. For those unfamiliar, this is not a full license, but an intermediate stage that allows one to drive relatively free of restriction, and to be registered as the primary driver of a vehicle. I suppose I'm a...

I have a neighbor with a lawn tractor, who mows my lawn for me. I highly recommend it. ;-)
We have a bit of a barter system; in warm months, he mows my lawn. In winter, I hire a plow to do his drive as well as mine.

I'm listening to the Rolling Stone Top 500 albums circa 2012 and will probably share my thoughts as a whole once I'm done (I'm currently on 110 counting down from 500 and it's been 18 months), but one thing is clear - The Who are trash and the most overrated band of all-time. Just awful. I’d slot L...
