Re: Why Do Local Cops Need Camoflauge?
I think there are slightly more of these incidents occurring lately (last 5-10 years) but many more are being caught on video, hence the heightened coverage. Video like this latest murder surfaces ten years ago, media goes wall to wall with it (like Rodney King). All about the pictures. Given the h...

Dammit. Reports are flowing that Justin Anderson is declaring for the NBA. He was a lot of fun to watch.
UVA will still be very good next year, but maybe not preseason top-5 anymore.

Re: 2015 NCAA Tournament Thread
Such a huge disconnect here between the chatter and what is actually happening. The ratings are through the roof--the early rounds of the Tournament now rival the World Series and the NBA Finals (both of which are shown entirely on over the air television), and the Final Four blows away everything ...

Re: NCAA Hoops Off season 2015
Isn't it a rule that coaches can't recruit players in other programs? If so, it seems really weird to punish the kids for it, right? It may be, but I think it's mostly dampened because it costs a year. You hear rumors of it happening anyway with kids that are perceived to be disgruntled enough to c...

How did that whole using a center thing work out for Duke? Serious question, but with teams playing 3 guards and no center, why do the scores seem so much lower than they did 10 or 20 years ago? It's probably not a coincidence that Okafar had a pretty lousy tournament and yet Duke played their best...

If you look at the A-10's transfer history with major conferences, its going to be an a lot to 1 ratio in terms of gaining versus losing. I'm not sure why more kids would be willing to transfer up without the sit year but not willing to transfer down. You'd for sure see a huge increase in transfers...

3. Why is free agency bad? Because its too tough on the poor coaches or because it exposes college basketball for the profit sport it is? Random observations at the beach yesterday in North Carolina:
3-4 different groups playing with a soccer ball (including my sons)
2 different groups throwing lacrosse
1 group tossing a football
1 pair tossing a baseball
2-3 playing some sort of beach paddle hitting thing

Poorly worded on my part. Pressure D is meant to speed up the other team. Create extra possessions. Teams like VCU already play higher possession games, so shorter shot clock likely won't affect their games, at least not in terms of # of possessions. They'll more likely play a more conservative D, b...

Less possessions if offenses are better at waiting for a high percentage shot and defenses are better at not allowing high percentage shots by over-committing. Exactly. I really think a shorter shot clock will create many more teams playing a pack-it-in defense and so you may not really see too man...
