Yedlin was a mediocre defender in MLS. Definitely don't want him isolated at the int'l level.

Pretty much all sports have scoring means that occur "outside the run of play" (free throws, field goals, etc.). Taking advantage of them doesn't besmirch the spirit of the competition.

I think the keeper's terrible footwork was more to blame than the sun. She got a hand to the ball so she clearly wasn't blinded.

Elisha sure is thin-skinned. For reals, baldy. There's a crazy guy in my neighborhood that has stopped me a couple times with "Hey man, you ever thought about a toupee?". To give you an image, he looks like a slightly slenderer, but just as old, Gerard Depardieu. Usually dressed in ratty ...

Re: Women's World Cup
Of course it was planned. U14 teams run the same play. And at every level, it works only rarely. When it does, considerable luck is involved. When the ball is in the mixer, this is a simple fact. You discount all the tactics that resulted in those set pieces that resulted in goals. Those set-pieces...

Re: Women's World Cup
The first goal was a pretty obviously planned play – 1st runner goes early and clears space for the second runner for the low-driven ball. That's not blind luck, that's good execution.

Finally went to Avery and had the Uncle Jakob and a couple of bitters. One was real skunky with a latin name I can't remember but was quite good. Jakob was also delicious but it's so far removed from "beer" that it's tough to judge. A lot of flavors going on in that snifter.
