Re: EPL 2022/2023
So the Toffees are officially for sale, and the price is north of £500 million? That seems incredibly cheap for a club with that much history, and good infrastructure.

Did anyone catch the premiere of "The Last of Us"? (HBO) last night? The GF had read some stories about it, so she wanted to check it out. I'd heard of it, and knew it was a Zombie thing, but had never played the video game its based on. Gotta say...pretty pleasantly surprised. The openin...

Made our first foray to the French cinema tonight. We watched Banshees and what can i say other than it’s a McDonagh film. I enjoyed most of it, and it wil make me think, so I guess that’s good. Has your French comprehension advanced far enough that you’re not wishing the screen had subtitles? Non....

Re: EPL 2022/2023
I don't think its a strawman to point out that players you can sell for a profit are better than overspending for players you can't sell for half the initial cost. (The fact they've spent as much as they do and are barely top 10 in net, between 90(pound sign) and 300 million less than the other big...

Re: EPL 2022/2023
Net spending is a dumb way to look at it, sorry. It completely discounts amortization for wages, plus teams that buy and buy and buy expensive players also tend to sell and sell and sell those same expensive players because they can’t keep them all happy. Ignoring United is still $100MM above City ...

Re: EPL 2022/2023
I’ll admit, by my interpretation of the old offsides rule, i thought Rashford was interfering with play. Didn’t realize rule had been changed. From what they explained and what I read I understand wording now that since he didn’t impede goalies vision of play, nor block a city player from touching i...

Re: EPL 2022/2023
It must be rough rooting for a team that spends $100 million for a guy, but they have so much talent they struggle to get him playing time . 10th in 5 year net spend but in a very egregious and sure seems spendy kind of way. No argument. Net spending is a dumb way to look at it, sorry. It completel...

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
What makes this all so murky is that it's highly likely that GGG just made a naïve, boneheaded mistake. He truly felt it was off the record. But it wasn't just the comments, it was the leadup where he's inexplicably benching one of his better players despite the families being close, right? Like th...

Re: NFL 2022 week 17 - Wentz the Carr crashes into the Bridge(water)
That level of play is actually a decent descriptor of the level of play you'd get from the currently 31-year-old QB we are discussing! This is a team that would easily be in the playoffs with Carr-level QB play all season. Derek Carr has one glaring weakness and it's similar to Zach Wilson's. He's ...

Cool and damp, almost every day so far. More sun than I expected though, which is nice. Adjusting to a house that doesn’t have central heat is strange, but getting there. Have pretty much used our wood stove in the main salon every evening.

Ok...any advice on doing NY Strips? I'd usually do steaks on the grill, but wondering if I should do them in my cast iron pan instead. And a sauce? Maitre'd butter? Salt, pepper, minced garlic, and olive oil. Liberally rubbed on all sides at least 4hrs in advance of cooking. In the oven at 200 unti...

Re: EPL 2022/2023
It’s hard for me to put into words how good I feel about Ten Hag. The way he handled the Ronaldo situation, the way he’s got the team playing, and even the way he handled a simple thing like Rashford sleeping late and being late to a meeting. He’s strong.

Rex Chapman? He has a huge following, mostly just shares/amplifies heartwarming or funny stuff, but also is very vocally anti-maga. He seems a target to be ousted while being mostly harmless and well liked.

We talked about that and have considered it. We do have a garage space at my MiL’s we could use. But for me there’s so much uncertainty around everything Tesla I’d rather just take the hit and be done with it.
