Re: 2021-22 NHL season

So I finally got around to watching that McDavid goal when he went between 4 Rangers. That reminded me of the hockey version of when Michael Vick weaved through the Vikings for that 50-yard walk-off TD, when the two guys in the Vikings slammed into each other when they tried to sandwich-tackle him....

Pens ran a Hornqvist tribute video. Wasn’t expecting to feel anything tonight. Aw, man. I (and the Pens) miss that guy. I've said before that Pens fans are so spoiled. Seider's first NHL goal was the OT winner last night, Raymond had three helpers, and Bertuzzi had his second four-point game of the season (two and two). The Wings still aren't good, but at least the young guys are being productive and providing hope. I've known about Seider for a while, but never ...

Re: 2021-22 NHL season

Oilers are really clicking! There's a lot to like about a 5-0 team. (Or maybe even a 4-1 team like the Sharks at the moment.) But, like the Leafs, nothing really matters for this team until the playoffs. But seeing Hyman and Bouchard doing what they're doing is certainly encouraging. And McDavid an...

Re: 2021-22 NHL season

Earlier in this thread, I talked about my interest in Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard. It took all of 5 games for Bouchard to get moved up to the top pairing with Darnell Nurse. Against Vegas, he played 24 very strong minutes. He's one of their top penalty killers. (The only reason he isn't on the p...

A friend who shares my Leafs-misery hobby just sent an email. The Penguins have had their usual luck so far this season re: injuries and illness. The past decade, I swear they've led the league in games missed by top players every single season. Last night, they played without Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Jeff Carter, and Brian Rust. Evan Rodrigues was their 1C. An...

I guess when you dress the lineup and goalie that says “we’re not really here to score or win” it shouldn’t be a surprise when you don’t score and are losing. Loving the Drury era. Quick Marner story. Last spring, I read a bunch of hockey books. (Including a Don Cherry book that might be a nostalgiaganza post some day.) One of the books was Gare Joyce's book about the 2015-16 Leafs. That was Marner's and Matthews' rookie season. I've probably talked about the London/Erie game ...

I think Vegas and Edmonton will be the top two teams in the Pacific.
