Goalie's fault or defender's? I'm gonna say about 60/40 the defender's fault for playing a ball like that back to his keeper.

I'll just drop this nugget here. I'm not slagging on the South, but there's an entire generation (probably more like 3) that were raised in these types of schools. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/02/20/nikki-haley-high-school-racism-education/ And it's not just the south and blacks. Re: Racism

To play devil's advocate here, the study of history, particularly in a high school US History class, by necessity has to skip or elide a lot of events. I mean, you're often going to cover 50 or more years in a couple of pages in a book. A lot of shit happens all the time! For example, how many of yo...

We watched the whole (I think) Eyes on the Prize documentary in US History when I was in high school. It was so good and eye-opening. In hindsight, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those stories had featured parents of some of rich southern white kids I went to school with. If not directly, then i...

5. And their change in tone from their first one. For a movie where a guy gets grenaded, it’s really kind-hearted. The fact that they can change genres basically at will. What talent. That's a great point. Other than the crime subplot, these two movies couldn't be more different. That's a hell of a...

Probably the tightest intro/backstory sequence of any movie. Could teach a whole film class on that alone. Absolutely. The pre-credits stuff with Hi and Cage's narration is just incredible. When the credits finally kick in - it's probably more than 10 minutes into the movie - it just cracks you up ...

I typically think of an artist I want to listen to and then go through their albums in sequence.

If I need a longer, more random playlist, I create a radio station based off an artist. I have a few of those set to download on my phone so I always have music if I'm offline.

That Defector piece was good. Hard to believe a coach who had 30 players drafted by the NBA never advanced a team past the sweet 16. Yeah, that definitely affected his national reputation and lasting impact. In fairness, some of his best teams played in the days of only one bid and he was in the AC...

The acc coaches of that generation were great. Cremins, Terry Holland, all 3 in research triangle. I just read (listened to) Feinstein's book about K, Smith, and Jimmy V. It was a great read, especially since V and K joined the ACC right around the time I was getting into it (the Sampson years). Th...

One of the all-time great characters in college basketball. Hell, in American sports overall. While he didn't always run the most ethical of programs (e.g. Herman Veal and the Bias fallout), he was a very good coach and he brought an excitement and humor that the ACC has lacked since he left.

I don't really blame the second cop. The first guy screams both "shots fired!" and "I'm hit!" And then he's flopping all over the ground, unloading his clip and hiding behind a car. Who wouldn't assume there was some real danger? Apparently that dude quit the force after. Thankfu...

My family got mad at me for not liking the Mission Impossible "villain" of an evil, all-powerful AI. It crossed my suspension of disbelief line, but obviously not theirs. It struck me as written by people who don't really understand computers (which isn't unusual).
