Re: Movies
Including a couple of premieres that my wife got passes for at work, we have been to 4 movies in the theatre in a decade. But you know what - unless it's a special effects movie, who cares? We've got the big TVs, and once you pass a certain age, it doesn't matter if you see the movie when it opens....

"Father of Medical Marijuana" Not gonna lie, I had never heard of him, but sounds like his life story is begging to be made into a movie. No kidding - leaving marijuana aside, you could show the whole history of Gay America through the prism of his life. Right? Plus, the transition of San...

Re: Welcome NHL Las Vegas
The visceral feeling of being there live is unbelievably important (like literally, I didn't believe it was that important, it is). Too bad watching it on TV is like 10% as good. Yeah, that's the reason I'm in a season ticket group. This season I'm in for a dozen games. But, my daughter is my going...

If I were a politician I'd just try to tell people that this country NEEDS to invest in solar and wind energy so that we can be competitive with other companies in other countries when those energy sources achieve the economy of scale that is destined to happen, but that coal will be a major part o...

I won't go as far as to say that the NHL and the IOC conspired to keep players out of the 2018 Games to save Canada the embarrassment of getting dominated by the United States of America. But I won't outright dismiss the theory. How's that for a teaser? In the above, Wyshinski is referencing a stat...

Bronto posted about driving from KC to Oklahoma City to see an NBA game, and it got me thinking about how odd it is that such a small-time burg has a major sports franchise. I knew Green Bay has a team because they were there at the small-time origin of the NFL. But, I when I looked up the relative ...

Unless the dog is spraying shit its probably no more unhealthy than a kid. Does a kid carry fleas and ticks? Are people allergic to kids? Or have fears of them? Around here you can take your doggo to an outdoor pateo area but not inside. I think the health concern largely regards hair and dander.

I love this song by The Hold Steady. I also love old songs by The Jim Carroll Band. I'm pretty sure Craig Finn loves them, too, given the similarities.

Honestly, I'm not in the business of defending Bush. He put Rumsfeld and Chaney in charge of things. That's enough for me to label him one of the worst presidents in modern history. But he'll take a very distant second to Trump when all is said and done. We agree the Iraq War might be what brings h...

I'm in agreement with the last several posts. Other R's would likely have pursued some of Trump's economic plans, but the way Trump has appointed neophyte idiots and virtual arsonists to cabinet-level posts would not have occurred. The outrageous foreign policies, things like Charlottesville, the ex...

Back to an earlier topic, do you think many voters would have forgiven Bonds for his flagrant PED use if he had been a more likable person during his playing career? Despite Ortiz' rumored use of PEDs, it isn't something many people seem to associate with him. Is that because he IS a likable person?...
