Re: 2014 NBA Playoffs

Do we have a general predictions thread in this version of the Swamp? Because here goes...when their contracts are up, both Durant and Westbrook are going to leave OKC, and the Thunder will join the Bucks, Jazz, Kings and T-Wolves in Irrelevant-town. Well the Thunder have two more years of Durant a...

Finals Rematch

I'll be rooting hard for the Spurs, but I'm not that optimistic. I think LeBron is just too good at this stage of his career. But I do think that if Parker's ankle is okay for the Finals, San Antonio has a much better shot than OKC would have. The Spurs have home court advantage and they've been pre...

Kawhi Leonard is playing a great floor game tonight. He's been all over the court for the Spurs. That Leonard for George Hill trade is starting to look like a heist for the Spurs.

Or Joey Crawford was the lead ref for a game which if the team trailing the series won, would lead to an extended series. Again. I'm sure they're not allowing him anywhere near a play-off game. They respect the game. Plus, he's been outed on this. So they wouldn't dare play this card. Right? When I...

Re: 2014 NBA Playoffs

I typically hate the "why aren't the fouls even!" school of though but that is insane. Yeah. It's tough for me to imagine that there would be that big of a discrepancy if the Thunder played UConn, let alone the Spurs. When you consider that the Spurs ran the Thunder out of the gym in the ...

Re: 2014 NBA Playoffs

NBA officiating remains ridiculously shady. Excluding the last 3:05 of game 3, when the game was already well in hand for OKC, over the last 3+ quarters of the West Finals, the Thunder have attempted 33 free throws, and the Spurs have attempted 0 . That's absolutely absurd. And in those final 3:05 o...

2014 NBA Playoffs

As usual, the Western Conference playoffs figure to be much more interesting than the East. Even though Miami and Indiana both sputtered down the stretch, I'd be surprised if the East finals is anything other than Pacers-Heat. The West seems more up for grabs, with San Antonio, OKC, LA, and Houston ...

Dunno Dave, the Lakers will not be able to bring in those kinds of recruits. Rumors aside, I'd be surprised if Calipari leaves Kentucky this offseason. His skill-set (recruiting, motivating young players, etc.) seems to fit much better with the college game than with the NBA. While he's a decent Xs...

Would those guys have really pressured any of the incoming freshman for playing time? James Young grew up around here. I find two things amazing about UK under Calipari. First, he hasn't been caught cheating. It's possible that he's running one of the more ethical big-time programs. Yes, that's damning with faint praise. But still. Surprise to me. Second, he hasn't had a problem where big-time recruits stay for mor...

The sting of Kentucky losing is lessened by Shabazz Napier's "This is what happens when you ban us" line after the game. That's awesome. I can't think of a better way to point out the absurdity of the NCAA.

P.S. Have the Knicks hired Kevin Ollie as coach yet?

I agree with Brian. A long, contested 3 is the best you can hope for in that situation if you're a defense.
