Re: AFC Championship - Pats/Colts

Rush, I think you need to ask yourself whether you're upset with my casual fan comments or with the repeated cheating that opens the door for my comments. Repeated cheating? As far as I know there has been "Spygate" (which in many people's mind wasn't cheating per se) and then something t...

Re: AFC Championship - Pats/Colts

Let's assume it was a team like, say, Seattle taking adderall or the 70s Steelers taking steroids. Since it wasn't the Patriots, would anybody actually report it? I doubt it. I'm sure it would have the casual fan trolling message boards about it as well. Maybe you weren't around for the Roethlisber...

Biggest fine in NFL history to an individual since you're intent on parsing every phrase. But I'm hoping that you continue providing your takes on this because the Boston fan victim/persecution complex is endlessly fascinating to me. I sincerely mean that. Ah, yes. The reason that the Patriots were fined was that they filmed from a non-designated space.... ...literally, literally immediately after all NFL teams were explicitly told that was not allowed. How about the rumors of the Jays rampant sign stealing at home? Or is that more analogous to Spygate, the other major Patriots scandal that really isn't a big deal you guys? You show you ignorance here, as Spygate wasn't really a big deal. Any team can film an opposing teams signals. The reason tha...

If the teams all provided their own baseballs for their pitchers, I'd agree with you. While not a perfect example, home teams do provide the balls for pitchers do they not? While balls aren't pre-scuffed, pitchers do try to keep that ball that got scuffed in play longer than it should based on the ...

We'll never get all of the answers, but I'd love to know how long the Patriots have been doing this. Your answer is all over Twitter and in this thread. Once teams were allowed to prepare footballs to their QBs liking this has been going on. As players have said teams try to fudge the rules to get ...

It's still possible that the refs just didn't do their job right. If the Pats tried to get away with something and the refs approved those balls as they were, the Pats are in the clear as far as anyone should be concerned. This league hasn't exactly proven to be the most competent organization. Tha...

I'm now reading Peyton and Brady pushed for a rule change on the handling of the balls (geez louise) to ensure each team can do what they want (within reason), Rodgers says he messes with the pressure, and Brad Johnson once bribed a guy to alter the PSI. And that's just what has come out yesterday/...

They were punished because they did this in an area outside the area that was designated by the NFL. The taping wasn't illegal, where they did it from was. All this will do is make sure that the balls for the Super Bowl are more closely guarded and tested than any other game in NFL history, which isn't the worst thing in the world (for anyone). Though I'm thinking doctoring the ball in anyway during the AFCC game would be difficult. All of this is hoo...
