Re: The Live Music thread...
Nope. Never really had the opportunity. I would've been interested in going just for the experience, but not for the music. I'm the opposite....I went to a lot of Dead shows, and liked the music (except for Space, and the dirge songs like "Black Peter" and "Stella Bllue"), but I...

Re: The Live Music thread...
I've liked these guys for quite a while. I've been listening to a lot of them along with Of Monsters and Men and Imagine Dragons. It is nice to hear some good solid rock music coming back into the mainstream. Doesn't surprise me that The Lumineers put on a great live show either. I've gotten that v...

Re: The Live Music thread...
Just home from seeing the Lumineers. A great show. I was impressed. In addition to their own stuff, they did a couple of great covers....Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and Talking Heads "This must be the place". At one point the whole band made their way into the center of...

Re: The Live Music thread...
I should have probably ranted about this here instead of boring people with it on Facebook, but the venue hosting Depeche Mode in Las Vegas for their fall tour wants $160 for the cheapest seats. Cheapest seats in San Diego and LA (granted for larger venues) are $40 and $50 respectively. Gotta be fu...

Re: The Live Music thread...
Kinda funny that Dave just dropped Tom Morello in there at the end of the list like he's some regular session guitarist. Is he touring with Bruce or is that just a few shows? I would guess his alpha dog guitar style would kinda clash with that huge band, but maybe not. Did Bruce cover Killing in th...

I know we had a Concerts thread back at the old old place...so I'll start a new one... Been seeing lots of shows here in the last month or so. Seems like all the touring acts come to Australia in Feb/March/April. So far I've seen: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis: Funny to see these guys after they've made...

There's a special level of lunacy in the Minnesota AD department. Remember they fired Glen Mason after going to bowl games for like 7 or 8 straight years. How'd that work out for them? One of the sports radio guys in Seattle used to say "Don't get tired of winning". Exactly what are the e...

At what point does Mark Few say "fuck this" and take millions to go coach in a power conference? They won't be offering millions if he waits too long. I think if he was going to leave, he would have done it a long time ago. Have we considered that maybe, just maybe, Mark Few really isn't ...

I bought a 40" inch Teac when I got here to Australia...1080p 120Hz....with a built in blu-ray player, and I like it. Great picture, lots of inputs (3 HDMI inputs). Works great.

Yep... Bestselling Nigerian novelist, essayist, poet and professor Chinua Achebe is dead. Achebe died on Thursday at a hospital in Boston following a prolonged illness. He was 82. Achebe’s 1958 debut novel ‘Things Fall Apart’ told the story of British colonialism from an African perspective and wen...

Caught a few minutes of that '81 final (Indiana with Isiah Thomas beating North Carolina with James Worthy and Sam Perkins) on ESPN Classic a few days ago. Great stuff. That game was played the same day that Reagan was shot. They postponed the Oscars, also scheduled for that night, but played the g...

Ah, that's it. Thanks Slolz. Lehigh knocking off Duke remains my favorite of the long-range upsets but the one I remember seeing, because the entire game was televised, first game of the day maybe, was Richmond knocking off Syracuse 20-some-odd years ago. Don't remember Cleveland State(14) beating ...

Assuming you mean that dunk in the FGCU/Georgetown game, that was sick. I thought for sure the lob was too high, and it was going to go off his finger tips.rass wrote:That was great.

I'm doing the bike commute here in Melbourne, and have been putting serious km's on my bike, about 200 a week or so. I have a Ridley (aluminum frame, with a carbon fork and carbon rear triangle) and Campy Centaur drive train and Campy Daytona brakes. I love it...stiff frame, and nice and responsive....
