Re: The Walking Dead Thread Walks Again

I thought the phone was a sign that despite the evil veneer, Merle IS a human under there. He feels the weight of his actions. He cares. His sanity is slipping a bit and maybe he needs a chat with someone (an old girlfriend, his mom, his former self?) that was good in his life. That was a nice clue ...

Re: The Walking Dead Thread Walks Again

That was a great episode. That was a clever way to end the Merle storyline. They could to rehabilitate him - that would have been silly. Having him be a complete dick, repent and then go out in a blaze of glory was fantastic. And he took out a bunch of the Governor's best men along the way. Was that...

That's just dumb. Are there people outside of Minnesota who actually think the Gophers should regularly be better than Tubby got them? I thought he did a pretty damn good job. Not top-tier elite, but still pretty damn good. I'm willing to bet that Minnesota won't be getting any better with the new c...

Re: NCAA Tournament thread - Play-In games and Round of 64

My point is we should be grading on a curve. The Big East is 6-5 as a conference and has three Sweet 16 teams, but that should be seen as a disappointment for a conference given four top 4 bids, two more in the 5-8 range and two below. 10-4 with four teams still alive was the expectation out of tha...

Re: NCAA Tournament thread - Play-In games and Round of 64

I've seen that a bunch of places, saying the BCS is proven better because the Mountain West and A-10 combined for 10 bids and 1 Sweet 16 team, but it sort of ignores that those two conferences only had two teams seeded 1-4. They underperformed by 1. Big East had 4 teams 1-4 and passed 3 into the Sw...

I don't think you can fault the officials for the OSU call (though the studio crew did). It was an incredibly close play, and even on review it looked to barely be conclusive. Not egregious at all, in my estimation. Yeah, I actually thought they were both close and both probably wrong. It happens t...

Fuck, I hate seeing a game decided by idiotic refs. And, yes, there is an enormous difference between Illinois being tied (or up one) and being down four, with less than a minute to play. That was disgraceful; not even a close call, really. Yeah, and there was a very similar missed call at the end ...

To clear it up, LED tvs are still LCD screens. The difference is in the backlighting. LED TVs use ... LEDs! Other LCD screens use florescent backlighting. LED lights allow for thinner screens and apparently better contrast. A pretty good breakdown - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2387377,00.as...
