Re: Old Timey Music for Howard and DC

The B-3 was certainly a magical instrument in rock, soul, and jazz starting around 1960. The thin "keyboards" that followed couldn't do it for me after hearing the B-3 masters. He's not up there with Jimmy Smith and Booker T for me, but Brian Auger was certainly playing in the major league...

Now Tyrone, that is a hurricane you know is a troublemaking thug.

I played in a band with a bass player who was cool enough to get that nickname from this song.

Re: Old Timey Music for Howard and DC

Have you seen Robben Ford play much? I'm a fan. He is a Mendocino County native, and played around Northern California when he was breaking in during the '70s. He broke pretty fast, as he quickly went from playing with his brothers to playing with Miles Davis and the Tom Scott band that backed Joni ...

I suppose Angels fans may not fully appreciate Bellinger's potential, plus the value involved. Still, Trout is Trout. This is like trading Mantle at his peak. Simply hard to grasp how it could be a good thing. Give your friend a few days.

That was widely rumored amongst those on the inside. The Cubs getting Verlander and Cabrera for Rizzo was a bigger surprise.

Lots of ways to play the bass

Larry and Steve certainly expanded some boundaries in the performance above. Tal and Jeff do a bit along those lines here, albeit a bit more playfully.

They could tour as a trio. I may have mentioned Tal Wilkenfield before. Last time I saw her, she was leading a band and opening for The Who. A fully mature bass player, vocalist, composer, and band leader. Here she is closer to her beginnings with some random guitar player who, although he hired a m...

Of the many conventional things my oldest daughter has already passed on, college visits is high on the list for the smartest decision. My guess is that they are worthless or worse (actively deceptive) for 70-90% of high school students. Also high on the list is GRE prep classes. So the college admi...

Seger's former drummer, and my wife's former student, performs here. Before his tragic accident, you could hear him on Live Bullet drumming up a storm and doing the answering vocals to Seger's lead on a song or two.
