Re: 2013 NFL Week 6 thread
Bizarre call after the Patriots game winning touchdown. Makes me remember how much I don't miss living in Boston WRT sports. https://soundcloud.com/airchecked/tom-brady-to-kenbrell That's former Patriots' backup QB Scott Zolak with that bizarre call. He's an unabashed homer when it comes to the Pat...
Re: ALCS
Two Red Sox fans at the bar today were insisting that Joe West "hates" the Red Sox. Is that a thing or are they just crazy? The Sox fans were upset about a bunch of calls at the game last night. Particularly some of the Ks called against them on check swings. But all of those calls looked...
Re: ALCS
Fun game last night. Even though Sanchez didn't give up any hits, it felt like he was walking a tightrope the whole game with all the walks he allowed. That said, he made some of the Red Sox hitters look pretty bad last night--Ortiz in particular.
Re: ALCS
I'm headed to Game 1 tonight. Not a fan of either team, but I'll be rooting for the Tigers. I know Anibal Sanchez has had a great year, but I'd be surprised if he is able to contain Boston's lineup tonight.

Re: I Want a New Drug (Krokodil not cutting it)
Anyone ever heard of this new drug out of Russia? Essentially a homemade heroin replacement, it is codeine cut with gasoline, lighter fluid or paint thinner. Injected. I'm not a doctor, but injecting gasoline, lighter fluid or paint thinner directly into your veins can't be good. The average lifesp...

Agree. What do you make of that? It wasn't so long ago that it was a totally different sport. There are basically no guys the size of Carl Lewis anymore. I don't really believe that 80% of current sprinters are doping but 80% are definitely more powerful looking than Carl Lewis. The legs in particu...

Re: College Hoops Offseason thread 2013
The Sporting News does an All-Name team for college football and college basketball, and I think the real names for football are even better than the skit. The safety position is stacked, but my personal favorite is Mister Cobble. First Team, Offense: QB: Munchie LeGaux (Cincinnati) RB: Rowdie Simon...

Wasn't there a report that part of the problem with Tebow is that he has a learning disability and couldn't learn NFL playbooks? Although I agree that as compared to Jeff Tuel, Tebow doesn't seem like that bad of an option.

Deadspin piles on Pete Prisco too for a really, really stupid concussion-related column Jeez... Keith Olbermann destroyed Prisco for that column on his show last night, too. I didn't like Olbermann at all when he was doing politics, but I've enjoyed what I've seen so far of his new show on ESPN2. I...

Separating the content of her remarks from the anger and you see one of the problems with the political class - they are so f-ing partisan that any criticism against their party is taken very personally. This is spot-on. One of the big problems with U.S. politics is that most people who are politic...

Mickelson just took the drama out of this one. No way anyone is catching him. It feels like he flew completely under the radar for almost the entire tournament. Probably because ESPN was so invested in the Tiger winning another major story line.

While the Warriors sign a 30yo wing player, six seasons removed from his peak scoring season. Cause Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes need a backup; $12 mil x four years for Andre Iguodala is just fucking perfect. My guess is that the Iguodala signing was an attempt to lure Howard to GSW by signing...

I actually know one of Anthony Kennedy's current clerks. And no, he does not happen to be gay (not that it matters one bit). I know Robertson isn't exactly known for rational thought, but the notion that Kennedy would let his opinion on such a high profile case be changed by his clerks is ridiculous...

As to the comments that this would get more attention if a different team were involved, I'm not sure I agree. This has been a massive story here in Boston, and the local media has been reporting a lot of rumors that make Hernandez look really bad. Sounds like he will be very lucky to get the Ray Le...

Who had the Pacers taking the Heat to 7? Hibbert and George have been having a great series, and Wade and Bosh have totally disappeared the last 3 games. Pretty fascinating to see those guys playing as awful as they have, and LeBron having to carry the team single-handedly. Gotta think that the Heat...

Yeah, I remember Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo was crushing John Hollinger after the Gay trade. Trade looks fine in retrospect. Not sure the Grizz will make it to the Finals, but I think they match up the best against Miami. Z-Bo and Gasol could create some mismatches inside.

2013 NBA Playoffs
Figured I'd start a new thread for the playoffs. Barring an injury to LeBron, I don't see how anyone beats Miami. But at least the West playoffs should be interesting. I have a feeling that the Celtics are going to have a last hurrah and upset the Knicks in the first round.

Syracuse has a bigger beef with the refs than Wichita State does. The Triche charge could have gone either way but the 4th foul on MCW was a terrible call, and LeVert got away with an obvious travel when he got that rebound with 10 seconds left. Wiggins will probably pick Florida State over Kentucky (I believe both of his parents were FSU athletes). So you may get your wish, but it'll come at the cost of him taking Joe Harris behind the woodshed 2 or 3 times next season.

2. The thing that killed Syracuse was Louisville's pressure defense (literally their press in the Big East Tournament) and Big East officials who don't call fouls on contact. A defender putting two hands on the ballhandler is an automatic foul... except in that game. Good point. I think the only wa...

That same radio show had their three hosts play Scalabrine 3-on-1 (winners' outs). Scal beat them 11-1. Even with all three of them trying to guard him, he could just dribble through them or shoot over them.
