Re: NCAA Tournament thread - Play-In games and Round of 64

Fuck, I hate seeing a game decided by idiotic refs. And, yes, there is an enormous difference between Illinois being tied (or up one) and being down four, with less than a minute to play. That was disgraceful; not even a close call, really. Yeah, and there was a very similar missed call at the end ...

You can all breathe a sigh of relief. UVA has won again in the NIT, beating St. John's 68-50. One more win and UVA heads to MSG.

46 of UVA's 68 points came from freshmen. The future's still looking pretty good in cville.

Just a stunning fall. Before his early, amazing success at ucla, he was damn successful at Pitt.

I read that SI article a while back, but I still don't really understand what went wrong.

Pretty cool.

So what did that guy do to his guitar to make it play like that? He's not strumming anything and he doesn't appear to be hitting the strings hard at all. It's almost like a keyboard.

And Scottie, is there a way to make the embedded videos a little bigger?

I haven't looked up the numbers but #1s are something like 120-0 versus #16 seeds all-time. Wouldn't ya' think that at some point that's gotta break? The #1s can't stay undefeated forever and the kids that play this game get more athletic every year. Some day I hope to see it happen. What's funny (...

This is a classic N.C. State performance. All that talent and they look like a bunch of idiots. Yup. Their top six players are easily top ten in the country, talent-wise. Hell, a lot (all?) of arenas actually play music DURING play now as well. Not the whole time, but after a made free throw or something, they'll blast some Smash Mouth until the other team gets the ball over half court. Really fucking annoying.

To clear it up, LED tvs are still LCD screens. The difference is in the backlighting. LED TVs use ... LEDs! Other LCD screens use florescent backlighting. LED lights allow for thinner screens and apparently better contrast. A pretty good breakdown - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2387377,00.as...

Good recall on the 1987 tournament, Dave. I sure as heck had to look up that reference. I read about it a little before I posted. Is Brad Stevens not going to move on to a bigger program, unless the Hoosier job opens up? Coach K's replacement. There's a very strong sentiment for that around here. Some people think it might be a contest of whether Roy Williams or Coach K retires first - whoever gets first shot gets Stevens.
