Re: NCAA Football Offseason

Icelandic volcanoes don't give a shit about Penn State. The team flies out on Tuesday. Classes start the day before. The worry is that they get there and can't get back. They do have classes after all... When Eyjafjallajökull blew a few years ago some coworkers got stuck over there for weeks. I got...

Re: NCAA Football Offseason

Excellent list and good point. Arkansas. Man. Brandon Allen (not Wilson) is Arkansas quarterback. As bad as he is, his backup, AJ Derby is not good. He is basically a TE that played QB in high school. Does not really qualify as "back up." The razorbacks were not good with Brandon, but were...

John Hornor Jacobs is a horror/fantasy novelist. His first book Southern Gods may have been the "inspiration" for True Detective. His second book The Dark Earth is a really well done zombie story. Anyway, he is two books in to a trilogy that is being marketed as a YA series for boys. The T...

Love is only 25 years old. He has 10 good years ahead of him. He is already one of the best 5 players in the NBA. You have to trade for him.

Also, he has played in Minnesota for 6 years. Cleveland wont look like that much of a shit hole in comparison. He might stay there.

I would never argue that Orel belongs in the Hall of Fame, but he is my favorite ball player ever. He also taught me why advanced statistics were important. I had his baseball card from his last season with the Dodgers. What stood out to me was the fact that his statistics in 1988 and 1989 were iden...

Spurs have just been doing it right. I don't just mean hitting 75% of their shots either. They have assembled a team that is ego-free and full of guys with complimentary skill sets. Its a thing of beauty. Its going to be interesting to see what the Heat do this off season. It does not look like the ...

Just paid $7,800 for new windows in the house (actually 11 windows and a door). Too much? They are really nice for what that's worth. I don't know. I can't help but feel fleeced every time I pay for anything.

LeBron is apparently extra sensitive to playing i hot conditions. The heat did not really seem to affect anyone other than him Funny thing, though, he was still the game's leading scorer. Spurs are just a terrific team. 15 years of sustained, elite level play is incredible.

I'm a total Pastner apologist. The guy ain't john wooden. I'm long on him though. He's a great recruiter and a great person. Memphis has completely overhauled their academic reputation. All the players get degrees. Basically, Pastner does everything you want a coach to do, except in game management....
