Re: Can't always eat right - Official junk food thread
Popeyes is the beat but I will eat most of those places. Chick til a Sammie is great and I liken nuggets. Love KFC(fight me) for taste and nostalgia...only place for takeoutchicken in my small hometown. Also still think their coleslaw is best in the biz. Bojanglez is location specific. Too much variance. I should stop typing.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Bojangles biscuits are for real though. I like their breakfast better than chicken tbh

Walked into Popeye's last night to pick up dinner for the family. There were at least 7 people waiting on their orders and the guy taking the orders seemed overwhelmed. As I was debating whether or not I should bother when a fight broke out in the back over someone trying to take an order to the drive-thru customer, so long story short, we had Church's.

My Popeye's experience was a bit similar the other night. No fight, but it was definitely sketchy in there. As we were walking up, a woman in a hospital gown was slowly shuffling out of the restaurant. Someone who appeared to be an assistant manager, motioned to the lone dude sitting in the corner, and asked the manager if said customer was waiting on his food still. The manager replied, "Oh no, he always gets his food fresh".
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
Re: Can't always eat right - Official junk food thread
That's part of the Popeye's experience. Without it, it wouldn't be the same.

Got the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich. I haven’t had CFA in years, but Popeye’s was good enough that I don’t think I would need to go back anyway. Not that I eat fast food all that often.
My town seems to be behind the curve on this, at least compared to the Swamp and Twitter. I passed CFA on the way home and while the double-lane drive-thru wasn’t backed out into the highway as it sometimes is, it was a lot busier that Popeye’s.
I think the best takeout fried chicken sandwich I’ve ever had was from a pizza place in Sea Pines plantation on Hilton Head. I did not let the fact that the place was plastered in Steelers paraphernalia affect my judgement.

So I've never had Popeye's. Looks like closest one to me is in Kennebunk. The Bushes keeping it busy, I guess?
There was one near me when I lived in California but I never went there because I had no idea about the cult-like following and assumed it wasn't anything special. Am I missing that much?

I think Popeyes chicken is tremendous. Spicy strips are good and their regular fried chicken better than most. The only one in town is on complete opposite side of the city so I don’t make special trips but if I am over there I get it most every time.

Does Bonchon qualify in the fried chicken battle? I actually like a local place better than them, but damn those Koreans know how to fry chicken.

Oh there’s a cool joint just around the corner here that is way better and has a crazy good menu. Their spicy is imeither perfect or borderline inedible hot. But yet I eat it no matter.

Not until they make a sandwich. I love their strips though. Half and half!

If you go to Popeye's and actually get everything you ordered and nothing more, that's a red flag. It's the secret santa of fast food.

Ordered wings in. So good. And they have new fried thighs that are amazing. May never order regular wings from there again.

And you know what's also outstanding? The frozen yogurt place called Menchies. Just a good amount of flavors and all of the toppings you can think of.
Also for another chip that's just laced with crack:
I need to try their other flavors.

Snagged from bfj's Facebook:
Order in which I'd get rid of them (i.e., opposite of most-liked order):
1. Kit-Kat
2. Twix
3. Snickers (chocolate + peanuts isn't bad, but done much better elsewhere)
4. Reese's Cups (good but the size is overkill, the minis are better)
5. M&Ms (hot take: the plain ones are better than peanut or all the other dumb varieties)
6. Milky Way (wtf bfj?)

Re: Can't always eat right - Official junk food thread
MIlky Ways are the suck. You need some crunch of some sort in a candy bar of that size.
Zagnut are the best.
But of that list
Milky Ways are never invented.
M&Ms (peanut are better)
Kit Kat
Reese's (i like the one better than the 2 for one-time eating (see crunch rule)
Twix
Snickers

They have a strange non-chocolate flavour. Never eat them - they are a poor substitute for Smarties.
I'd vote (worst to first):
Milky Way
M&Ms
Snickers
Kit Kat
Reeses
Twix
If you're ever in Canada, you must avoid Cherry Blossoms and Big Turk chocolate bars.

While at the airport before flying home from Europe last week, we spent all our remaining Euros and Czech Korunas at duty free on chocolate and alcohol. I like all those chocolate bars on the list above, but why is it all worse than Euro chocolate? (I know the technical answer, I just find it odd that the richest country on earth sells the worst chocolate.)

M&Ms are the worst. Easy first choice. I agree that Milky Way is next, but it gets much tougher after that.
Totally Kafkaesque

Your photos from Europe were great, by the way. Also, good job recreating Luke Skywalker's hair from 1977.sancarlos wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:53 am While at the airport before flying home from Europe last week, we spent all our remaining Euros and Czech Korunas at duty free on chocolate and alcohol. Ha ha. I’m taking lots of good-natured shit now for letting my hair get unfashionably long. My daughter saw an old old picture of me and said “you look just like that now except your hair is grey and you look old now.”Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 11:03 amYour photos from Europe were great, by the way. Ordering Popeye's Chicken for my birthday today, that's about as good as it gets now.
