I have never heard of probably 85% of those bands. Railbird Fest is going to be so much better.

Every music festival has taken the Coachella/Bonaroo approach of smudging together every music genre possible to get as many people as possible to attend.

Anyhoo...

Future Islands. Fuck yes.

And Marc Rebillet. Very cool.

I just finished reading a biography of Bill Graham, and when he was promoting shows in San Francisco and New York, he liked to introduce old blues and jazz masters to the kids by having people like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Miles Davis, Buddy Rich and Tito Puente open for the big-name young rock acts. He paid them headliner money to get them to do it, and the rock bands they opened for loved it.

Most know the Bears are the only team not to have a 4,000-yard season from a QB before the 17-game era.

The Jets, who had no 4,000-yard seasons in the 16-game era, had one in the 14-game era.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

So, with dinner tonight, the wife opened a bottle of inexpensive Napa Pinot Noir she bought. I’d never heard of it. I read the verbiage on the side of the bottle, and the owner of this winery is one of the guys from Devo. Ha! Whip it good!

And in typical Jets fashion, that QB threw more INTs than TDs that season.

If I just hit the 1 on my microwave, it goes on for one minute. I also have an "add 30 seconds" button.

If you you ever need to use different power levels for microwave cooking you want those numbers..but it is rare.
My microwave does not have the number pad. It only has a knob. Select, rotate, select rotate, 15 second increments before starting and 5 second increments after it is running. Hate it.

On the other hand I was asked on my Microsoft interview to design a remote with a single control and a knob control was my answer (But mine was better as it was more joystick with radial menus).

I'm really, really done with seeing veterans condescendingly make social media posts about what Memorial Day is about.

"IN CASE YOU THINK IT'S ABOUT BBQ AND BEER, THINK AGAIN. AND DON'T THANK ME FOR MY SERVICE TODAY. MILITARY MEMBERS DIED. REMEMBER THEM."

Like, ok Vet-bro. Chill the fuck out and take advantage of those sweet, sweet Memorial Day sales. Those military members died for capitalism after all.

I was thisclose to actually making a Facebook post about it.

I have a sort of anonymity here, so I try to use it. I can't really go on a rant on Facebook until I'm done done with a DD214 in hand.

But oh my do I want to. I just look around at some people I serve or have served with and I want to slap the shit out of them. I don't have issue with differing political ideologies, but I have a severe hatred for conspiracy theory and culture war bullshit masquerading as political discourse.

This doesn't fit in the Irony thread...but this made me laugh:

Moses Lake boaters allegedly harassed another group over gay pride flags. Then their boat burst into flames.
When another boat began circling their vessel on Moses Lake on Memorial Day, a group from Washington assumed they were trying to signal support for their gay pride flags.

But then someone on the other boat flipped a middle finger and yelled something about “gays” and “flags,” a passenger on the boat said. So the group started recording in case the situation escalated.

It did — but not how they might have expected.

Moments later, the other boat burst into flames, forcing passengers to jump into the lake — and leaving the victims to become rescuers as they filmed a moment that turned into a viral video this week.

“These people harassed my family because we were flying gay pride flags … by racing around us and shouting gay slurs,” tweeted a passenger named Robbie along with a video that has been viewed more than 620,000 times on Twitter as of early Wednesday. “Then, their boat literally blew up! #KarmaIsReal.

The Brood X cicada emergence has been all that it was supposed to be in my neighborhood. The cicada song today is maxing out at 93 decibels in front of my house. the lower part of the song that is constant is in the 70s. It has been like this since about 7 am this morning. Unreal to hear.

I don’t have a decibel meter on me, but they’ve been loud as anything here too (MD-DE border). It’s been like this for about 3 weeks now. From 7 am until nightfall. And I kept literally running into them on my afternoon runs. I have literally about a hundred cicada wings on my driveway, like their predators are just eating them while and spitting out the wings.

If anything, I read that this would be the year to get wild turkeys, as they feast on them. I’m also tempted to catch a few and fry them up. I’ve had fried crickets before, and I eat these Bougie Bites candies with ground cricket. I need to see whether the internet is onto something.

Before we moved to FL, I grew up in Glastonbury, CT. We lived on a mountain - watershed abutted our backyard. The din of the grasshoppers every early summer evening was something to behold. Thousands of them...Probably equaled to about half the loudness of the cicadas I heard last weekend out at my MiL's house in Catonsville, MD.
