That is my typical indecisive Saturday night. Though it is usually one beer, one scotch, then one bourbon.

It's also why Russia's economy is tanking.

Spoke to a oil industry analyst who notes that Saudi Arabia no longer wants its traditional opec role of being the country to cut production to prop up prices. "Let somebody else cut their own revenue for the greater good this time", they say. Plus they figure if prices get low enough with good supply, the U.S. companies will back off its own production capacity and hurt its own energy/fracking programs (as occurred in the 1980s with oil shale.). So the Saudis are willing to play a game of chicken.

The Saudis dumped a ton of oil on the market in an effort to fuck the Russians, Americans and Canadians. The idea is to drive the prices so low that it isn't economically feasible to sell tar sand and shale oil. Price out the competition so they can jack up the prices when Russia, the US and Canada shut down production.

So no, it can't be good.

I'll forward this post to my step-father, who sent an email that gas is $2.05 a gallon where he lives earlier today, followed by the phrase, "Merry Christmas to me."

I actually had that exact same thought recently and the best answer I could come up with was, "looked too much like Alyssa Milano."

Or ever, really. I just found out that Ariel from the Little Mermaid was modeled after Alyssa Milano. I didn't believe it, until I saw a side-by-side profile shot.

I call bullshit on the Dyson thing, unless he's a Russian Czar. The Queen has figurative ownership over Canada.

Yeah. Watching that with some of the nurses was as uncomfortable as watching something like that with my mom.

It's just a fucked up feeling. I work with some kids every day for up to 6 years, actually there was one I worked with for nine years and I see their parents almost every day, and then when they're done with the program (or when I switched jobs) I usually never see them again. Occasionally I'll run into someone at a restaurant and I had a good streak of seeing families as I walked into or out of a liquor store (followed by the joke, "so this is how you do it.") I'm not friends with these people, well maybe I am, it's blurry with my profession. You want families to be comfortable with you and you genuinely like most of the families you work with, but you're still trying to be a professional, charging lots of money, trying to help kids develop, trying to bring respect to the out of school world. But much of the job is just kids who want positive attention; I give it to them and there's a genuine bond, and then I never see them again unless it's by accident or I hear shitty news. Christ, this paragraph is begging for a Mr. D edit.

You know that Facebook "year in review" thing? Well mine popped up on my feed with the caption "It's been a great year! Thanks for being part of it." Underneath the caption was a picture of me and my buddy, Dan...who died tragically and suddenly from a ruptured aneurysm in April. Not that I would ever share those things anyway but needless to say, that was a no-brainer.

yeah, facebook is getting in tremendous shit for that. Not very well thought out.

Ed: That's so shitty. Sorry to hear about that. Much respect for the work you do.

for me I thought this year was decent. It went really fast and I was really busy at work and accomplished a lot. 2013 for me seemed to drag on and on so in comparison it was better.

My 2014 was full of some really incredibly stressful events that all turned out positively, so ultimately, a good year, albeit it one that took more than one year off my life.

2015 starts with the realization that do to a couple of serious setbacks, my father as I knew him no longer exists. A sad, inevitable stage, and one that we all must go through.

But knowing him, he'll hang in there until his beloved Bills let him down once more in the playoffs.

2014 for me sucked. Huge suck. Despite my team winning the world series, and my being able to attend. Takes a lot of suck to counter that; 2014 managed that feat with ease. Good riddance, glad to have the year in the rear view.
