A Facebook friend who lives in Kauai said he had just poured his coffee. Saw the alert, poured it out and poured some scotch.

I've been in Las Vegas for more than 10 years now and am kind of numb to all of the weird shit that happens when you live here, but in the last 24 hours I've learned one of my best friends got a job as head chef at the Hustler Club here in town and then two of my other best friends just interviewed a pron star on the radio.

We went through the same thing here. Registered for early tix sales, and got completely shut out. Couldn't even log on to the Ticketmaster site.

Same thing happened Friday morning trying to get David Byrne tickets. Grrrr....
Maybe you will catch him out for a ride on your way to the office

Actually met him in the office last spring. He was in town for the opening of his musical about Imelda Marcos, and somehow got hooked up with someone here at the Institute. We were sitting in a lab, looking at one of our Electron Microscopes, when the Institute Director came walking in, giving him a tour. I thought "Wow...that guy looks really familiar....oh hey, Hi There David Byrne".
One of my heroes.

The Imelda Marcos album ("Here Lies Love") is really, really good.

I'm planning to see him in August in Toronto. Not sure what the show will be, but should be good.

Eastern Time Zone - awesome in the morning (no meetings until 9?!?), sucks at night (how the fuck would one ever watch their team on the west coast?).

Yup. Mountain is realistically probably the best for watching sports, but Pacific isn't bad either. And it's nice to have the "late" games wrapped up by 10 p.m. most nights.

Agreed. The problem with Pacific would be missing east coast starts.

You don't miss any on weekends and weekdays aren't as bad as you would think, though I'll admit it depends on your own personal ability to skate out of work 30 minutes early sometimes.

You just don't watch the PST games. Which is working out pretty well right now with NYR.

Yeah, it's not really an issue for me now either. I can't remember the last time I've stayed up late on a weeknight to watch Rockets or The 2017 World Series Champion Houston Astros.

I know you’re being tongue-in-cheek but that really is the main cause of East coast bias.

Nor will you have to worry about it in June.

I'd honestly rather not. Sell off the UFAs (and maybe Zucc) and hope to do a quick little restock for the next two years or whatever Henrik has left.

I'm sitting here working in a coffee shop and the couple right across from me are having a meditation session. That's about on the same awkward level as watching people pray over their food in a restaurant.

I'm 2 weeks into this deployment thing. Not bad so far.

One thing that makes me laugh though: bathrooms here are called cadillacs. They are trailers similar to what you might see at a music festival or any other multi day outdoor event.

http://www.afcent.af.mil/Units/379th-Ai ... 001336278/

Anyhoo, the tag line of this base should be "Welcome to Al Udeid. Where taking a shit in a cadillac is not necessarily a bad thing."

If you're wondering (because I know Peter King would be), the food here isn't fucking up my stomach in ways the food does in America. Seriously. You'd think I'd have issues, but no. The food in America is bad for you.

And, if you want to send me stuff or know people who like to send stuff to deployed military, here you go:

Don't feel obliged though. I do kinda live in Club Med. When I go to Afghanistan, different story, but I won't be there for that long. Others have it way rougher than me.

I got up, took a shower, got ready, came to work and realized in the rest room that I apparently did not wash my hair. How the fuck do you miss that part of the routine?

Depending on the texture and whether you use quality product, it's probably better not to wash your hair daily.

This happens more than I should admit, but a lot of times I'll get to the part of my routine where I wash my hair and have forgotten if I've washed my hair already or not so I'll inevitably wash it again just to be sure.

I do (in order):

1) Body cleaning (from bottom up)
2) Wash hair
3) Shave

(Shaving in the shower really helps if you have sensitive skin).

Can vouch for this, from back before I went with the permanent stubble.

Also, any cheap hair conditioner works just as well for shaving than any expensive cream/gel/foam.

True, but. The whole purpose of foam, etc. is to keep your face moist while you shave. If you are shaving in the shower, it's pretty unnecessary to put anything other than hot water on your face.

The secret is to get your face good and hot and moist before starting. I use the mid-level Dollar Shave Club blades, which are nothing special.
