I listen to all podcasts on 1.7x speed. Didn't take but a couple car rides and I was done.

I’ve tried listening to podcasts sped up but my poor little hillbilly brain can’t do it.

There's something about the elf-like voices that freak me out.

Can't do it either.

1.7 is a bit much for me. I'm generally a 1.5 guy, and down to 1.3 or so for people that already speak fast.

Every so often I put it back to regular speed and it sounds like they're drunk. I'm kinda stuck with it at this point.

Bill Burr on 2x is etched in my mind as his actual voice.

Then when I put it back to 1x, sounds like he’s slow.

The only time it's weird while sped up is when there are songs as intros. Electric Avenue on Pardon My Take doesn't sound great sped up. However, The Press Box with Curtis and Shoemaker is the one that really benefits from speeding it up -- to include it's into music. It sounds like an upbeat intro at 1.7x speed.

I go with 1.3 (or so, can't tell what the actual number is) on Overcast, plus I use their Smart Speed feature which auto speeds through silences. Now that I've gotten used to it, I might try bumping up to 1.5.

I can't listen to any comedy podcasts on faster speeds. It's all about the timing and pacing. I'll listen to books sped up, especially non-fiction that aren't too dense. My son's podcast is always at 2x.

I've been here in Colorado Springs for 1 1/2 weeks now (my Mom's been sick...came to help out)...and holy shit its boring. My parents have the same routine every night...watch local news at 5pm...ABC National News at 530pm....dinner at 6...then they sit and watch TV (ESPN generally) with the sound off and my dad falls asleep in his chair...until about 845 when he announces 'Ok...guess its time'.

Sounds just like my parents, except my dad is hammered drunk by 7 and telling me things he’s already said 5 times previously.

My parents don't drink, and they do that anyways!

How old are your fathers?

My father is 71 and still quite active. Watches tv, YouTube and asian dramas with my mom. Watches a lot of football and soccer. Still writes articles and goes to the gym 4 times a week. I feel he has more energy than me.

Real dad, no idea. Never met him. Step Dad died back in 2004. He was 56. I turned 21 a couple weeks later.

He just kept gaining weight and having serious complications with diabetes. He kinda just gave up, honestly. It was sad.

My father is 84 and has been in deteriorating health - but still almost all there mentally. Knee replacement, balance issues, a major head injury three years ago.

Completely inactive for pretty much his entire adult life.

Needless to say, I love going home for visits.

My father will be 90 in April, and he's hanging in there ok. Not as active as he used to be (he had a heart attack almost 2 years ago), but his mind still seems fairly sharp.

He's 84. A great guy until mid-afternoon when he starts drinking...

ETA: Last December, we had a pretty heavy conversation (or should I say, monologue, since I was silent). He said (in part), "I know I drink too much. But, physically I can't do the things I want to do anymore. All my old friends are dead. I'm not an important guy anymore. Drinking is about the only fun thing left for me..."

wow that's great that they are still sharp, i don't think my father will last that long.

He's incredibly healthy, no illnesses, never spent a day in the hospital and has a voice that carries across the entire building.

But he's smoked for 60 years so I think once something (cancer/disease) hits him, it'll hit fast.

Same, though if he gets angry when he drinks that's no bueno.

We might have the same dad. I heard a similar monologue a couple of weeks ago.

My Dad passed in early August, he was 87. Had his first major heart attack at 27. He was a medical miracle. When he got sick it lasted about a month and he was able to die at home with Hospice. It couldn't have been scripted better. He was still working as a pharmacist until about 5 weeks before his death. I miss him but I am happy he passed fast, just as he wanted it.

Was home alone watching PSU-Minnesota and went outside at halftime to smoke some weed only to come inside and see the TV tuned to Barbershop on Starz instead and now I’m a little freaked out.

My Dad is turning 80 in March and he and my 74-year-old Mom just completed another road trip to California. It takes them a little longer after they both had hip replacements this year (my Mom broke hers on her last trip to Santa Cruz and ended up doing the hip replacement 6 months later after the surgeons in California fucked up her surgery).

I am happy that our school has sent an email regarding a "vaping workshop".

I also like that you can pre-register to attend and possibly win an $50 gift card.

Totally in agreement. And Delaware's works potentially on multiple levels himself.
