Ouch, Paul Casey's day ends before 7AM. Might want to go get a San Francisco CityPass for the day, bud.

I like the group play format as well but if Cadillac and NBC want the big boys around just invite 32 players.

I have three screens working, all live events from the Bay area, golf, hoops and Giants.

They've changed the holes around so much I am confused. Although I have found those trees that Woodland caught on 3.

What a great tournament that was. The Players is really turning into the Masters for people who have been inside a Walmart.

Watched it in a bar in Eugene with a bunch of locals who really knew golf. That was fun.

Rickie Fowler took six strokes on the par three 17th island green yesterday, and still won.

Granted, he played it THREE TIMES.

I love that tournament. I actually stayed on property and played the mirror course a few years back.

Yesterday was bananas. I really thought that Misner guy was going to just walk through the back door and take it on the 18th.

Really happy for Fowler, especially impressive was he's had to answer the bullshit questions about that bullshit anonymous survey of PGAers saying he was the most over-rated golfer on the tour.

Suck it, haters.

And that is legendary.

That was the most golf I've watched all year and it was amazing. And for some reason, I am always happy when Sergio Garcia falls short.

They were listing off all the perks that the winner gets, 5 year exemption on tour, 3 years at each major etc...
That putt that he lipped out on 18, was worth a bazillion dollars.

I watched a good chunk of the tourney all 4 days and that's not even something I do with every major. Yesterday was the most exciting/compelling round of golf I've seen outside of a Ryder Cup. Just fantastic stuff and some clutch play by Fowler in the closing holes.

And I have a mostly dislike, sometimes find him charming relationship with Sergio. That birdie on 17 to tie things up? Fucking gigantic testicles. He easily could've just faded away after a very dicey 16, and a not great tee shot.

And I agree about that being some of the best golf I've ever watched. It helped when guys like Sergio and Fowler stepped up yesterday. As much as I LOVE watching upstarts win tournaments, I don't really "know" those guys and it's hard to get invested.

Like I said, I REALLY wanted Fowler to make a run at it, and his finish is going to go down as one of the best ever at a Major. That shit was insane.

That's great. I think Jimenez may be my favorite golfer ever. The announcers also talked about how he is tied with Colin Montgomery for all-time holes in one on the European Tour with 9. And that he won 100 bottles of "sexy" wine when he made a hole in one in Portugal last year.

400 yard par 4 shortened to 104 yards today because of rain soaked fairway.

Holy crap!

Miracles can happen, and they are more than likely to happen to a guy with a 4 handicap than us duffers.

But this quote was unintentionally hilarious:
“I’ve been around the world 10 or 12 times, fighting for this country’s freedom," he said. "People are allowed to believe what they want to believe - I fought for that freedom.
The freedom to doubt, that's what makes America what it is!

It said he is a +4 handicap, which actually means he's even better than scratch.

Whoa! As an approximate -28 that impresses the hell out of me.

Earlier in the summer I golfed with an older guy (70 or so) who told me that he's had four holes in one in his lifetime. I was astounded as I only know one guy who's ever done it.

But hell, a week or so ago, I missed one by less than a foot, so anything could happen. And if this guy hadn't fought so well for our freedoms, who knows, my great shot may have hit a land mine in the middle of the green.

Maybe he stopped off in North Korea during his world travels and picked up some pointers from Kim Jong-il.

And I don't think he was fighting for your freedom Pruitt.

Was excited about Tiger's 66 today, then saw that there are dudes shooting 62 and 63 out there.

Crazy thing I was thinking about today--if Tiger's career does not turn around, he may have to qualify for the 2019 U.S. Open. Only the last 10 champs are exempt, and his only other exemption this year was for winning the Players in 2013 which will run out even sooner. (Similarly, he is close to having the dreaded (1) next to his name on the list of Masters qualifiers, like Sandy Lyle or Larry Mize.) I have to think that as a practical matter, if his game is not improved by then, he will either have retired or will get a special exemption from the USGA, but still.

He will get in every ear he wants to play. He will never have to qualify.

And this is the course that had 3 59s in a span of two years I think. It's a joke of a PGA course. Gorgeous place, not PGA worthy, IMO.

As my wife will be hosting clients in Shaw's (huge Canadian media company - main network carries all the PGA events) 18th green VIP tent (like a skybox with chefs), I will be watching the final round of the Canadian Open like a big shot.

I'll walk the course as well, but there is something really gratifying about having people serve you drinks and roast beef while you watch a sporting event. And while the Canadian Open's field isn't that stellar, watching pro golfers is a fine way to spend the day. If you watch the end of the tournament, I'll be the middle aged white guy in the VIP tent behind the green.

Used to be known as the per-capita wealthiest town in the country.

The Ford plant is really nice. Otherwise, it's comparable to other exurbs in North America.

Kind of odd they never name the caddie.
Allenby was fearful after the round that his caddie would attack him so he asked for a security escort to his car.
Maybe his caddie was who beat Allenby up down in Hawaii?

Shame that Hearn couldn't squeak it out, but Watching Day and Watson hit 380 yard drives is an experience not to be missed.

Best shot I saw all day though was Putnam on the 8th. 200 yards from the pin, mid-sand trap, he fired it out to within 5 feet of the pin. Golf in person is kind of fun, TV is more convenient and comfortable of course, but where it becomes something that has to be experienced at least once by even a casual follower is that you simply can't believe how much better these guys are than the best player you have played with.

It;s a place where 12 footers are basically gimmes. Where 450 yard par 4s are easy birdies, where guys can hit the ball 380 yards! You can tell the regular golfers in the crowd, because they are the ones saying "Jesus!" or "holy shit!" as they watch the pros play. They are definitely not yelling "get in the hole!"

A great day at Glen Abbey - great food, great weather, good golf and a Canadian in contention.
