Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
So...these Trump (via Woodward) revelations. Should he have made them public back in March? Was it ethical for him to sit on them for his book release?
Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
He wasn’t done with his interviews until July. Also this revelation should be shocking to absolutely no one. The alternative is that Trump was getting bad info from his public health experts.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:41 pm So...these Trump (via Woodward) revelations. Another reminder...Jason Whitlock is a terrible person, which means he's right at home with Clay Travis...
Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
That article should have been written about Tomi Lahren.

Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
I only became aware of it because Ian Karmel (from the All Fantasy Everything podcast) tweeted about it, calling Whitlock a 'fedora wearing piece of shit'. (Nolan has been on AFE a few times, and is a great guest).Shirley wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 10:01 amGod, I felt dirty reading that. But boy do the white guy commenters on his site love it. Basically everyone I follow either called out Whitlock or liked a tweet that did.

I would like to think we're all smart enough to avoid Whitlock, Travis, Rovell, etc., but...
I mean, when was the last time one of them legitimately surprised you with a positive contribution to society?

Alex Flanagan weighs in on Whitlock pulling the same nonsense with her 10 years ago.

The only thing he proved in this latest anti-female tirade is that if he had the courage to know me or any of the women he so willingly devalues, it would kill his dangerous spoon-fed barbie narrative, and then what would he do for attention?

Can't believe this jackass gets published in the Washington Post. The 2020 election is four weeks out. Here is the short case for backing the Trump-Pence ticket and voting for Republican senators and representatives in your state.
Have President Trump and the Republicans helped you since they assumed office in 2017, or are you the same or worse off than you were nearly four years ago?
My guess is that the president and the GOP have helped you.

Hewitt was a longtime Reagan White House staffer and President of the Richard Nixon Foundation. He’s like Exhibit A for my view that the only thing new about Trump compared to the modern GOP is the Twitter trolling.

I think this episode of Leftist on Leftist violence deserves its own thread.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 3:00 pm Quite the response from the Intercept to Greenwald’s latest lunacy:
This is from the piece TB quoted:
The thing is, Greenwald's arguments and non-journalistic work have always teemed with distortions and inaccuracies. But the Intercept was fine until he turned those on him.The narrative Glenn presents about his departure is teeming with distortions and inaccuracies — all of them designed to make him appear as a victim, rather than a grown person throwing a tantrum. It would take too long to point them all out here, but we intend to correct the record in time. For now, it is important to make clear that our goal in editing his work was to ensure that it would be accurate and fair. While he accuses us of political bias, it was he who was attempting to recycle the dubious claims of a political campaign — the Trump campaign — and launder them as journalism.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I would not call Greenwald a "leftist" by any means.

Yeah, I was just going to say that. Sometimes it seems he's contrarian just for the sake of it.

Ok, I guess the only time I see stuff from him is when he's being contrarian against liberals or the Democratic Party.

Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
Greenwald has published his email exchange with the Intercept editors on his Substack account.
The first email in the "story memo" from one of the editors. I think it provides the best critical assessment I've seen of what the Hunter Biden story supposedly is, and whether and to what extent it's supported by the emails or other public reporting.

Good writers don’t need editors. Great writers demand them.

So ummm the author whose ethics caused her to get fired in the past may not have been honest again. Big story had to be retracted.

In today's Time's, there's this article about how much bigger your Covid exposure really is, compared to what you think.
I traced my Covid-19 bubble, and it's enormous
I traced my Covid-19 bubble, and it's enormous
So...after all that...he's going to do the right thing, and stay home, right?Experts and officials are unequivocal: Stay home for the holidays. Getting together with family for Thanksgiving without quarantining beforehand is like “bringing a loaded pistol for Grandma’s head,” Jared Polis, the governor of Colorado, warned earlier this month.
Mark Horne, the president of the Mississippi State Medical Association, sketched out grandma’s demise in even more horrifying detail. “You’re going to say ‘Hi’ at Thanksgiving, ‘It’s so nice to see you’,” he said in a recent briefing, and then “you’re either going to be visiting her by FaceTime in the I.C.U. or planning a small funeral by Christmas.”
Gah....So shame me if you must, but my wife and I decided that we would travel for Thanksgiving, though with a few added measures for safety. We’re pulling our kids out of the learning pod for a week before we leave. We’re driving to my parents’ house, not flying. We’re looking into getting tested before we go, and probably after we return. Other than the dozens in my bubble floating around us, our celebration will involve just seven people — fewer than the 10-person limit that many states have imposed on gatherings. And after the holiday, it would be wise for us to reconnect with other parents in the pod to ask whether their families might have been exposed during their time off.
