The GF's daughter is now a 'brand ambassador' for a protein bar company. Some nice shots of Bend/The Sisters in the video.

It was. They moved a few months ago. The old place was a converted garage that was too small once they got a dog.

2 plus a dog in there does seem like it'd be cramped.

What an amazing video, that will be such a cool thing to look back on when she is our age... What I can't get out of my head is her line, "for the 5-8 hours that I'm running." WTF?!?! That is insane! Running 30 miles in the mountains?

That's nuts. i know I'm old when I heard that 5-8 hours line and my first thought wasn't "holy shit, that's a lot of running," instead "who has that kind of time?"

That jumped out to me, too.

I think you'd have to be meditative to do something like that. I'd need to have a lot of podcasts to get through that. Fuck, I go bonkers on a long car ride if I don't have a podcast to listen to... And that's just sitting on my white ass for hours on end, not hoofing it all over hither and yon.

Even if I had the stamina or ability to physically do that, I'd get bored AF.

I'll have to ask her, but I'm am pretty sure that when she's running, she doesn't listen to anything. No music, no podcasts, nothing.

And yeah, she's pretty nuts doing these long runs. 2 summers ago she did TransRockies stage race (https://www.transrockies-run.com/...3 day edition) where they did day 1-20.8 miles, day 2-13.3, and day 3-24.5 miles. And she finished 3rd for the woman...finishing behind 2 professional trail runners.

I always joke with her about going for a "40 mile fun run"...

I used to regularly run for three hours before I had kids. I loved it.

I have always loved running once I'm in shape for it - but I have always hated hated HATED the part before you get in shape.

My son is keeping himself busy and has created a website where he writes about things that interest him - design, watches, cars, planes.

He has a taste for the obscure, but it's a fun site to visit. (If I do say so myself...)

On Friday when the news broke he was being transferred to Walter Reed, I went into the living room where my oldest was to turn on the TV. She's 9 and I was going to present it without comment due to the mere historical ramifications of this happening. As I started to explain, her eyes lit up and she goes "did trump die of COVID?!"

I have a couple Soviet-era watches my host family gave me when I was in Russia. I love the look of them. I wonder where they are, and whether they work or can be fixed. Probably not a standard battery size. One was the military watch of my host father. He gave me all of his medals, uniform hats and whatever he had. I felt bad taking it with his kids right there, but they all laughed and called it garbage. I guess the kid was 3 years away from getting called into service himself. They took no pride in service and saw it as a chore the government required, so no pride in the medals, which makes me wonder why they bothered keeping it. When I came home from a day trip with a Soviet propaganda banner I bought for 50 cents, my host mother literally cried because I was ripped off and paid for garbage. I get it, especially since their family income was equivalent to about $15 US/month. I had plans for opening a business buy Soviet stuff and selling it in the US. I cam home with some amazing stuff for pennies, like hand carved and painted chess sets and a full length grey felt Russian Army military jacket. It feels like wearing a lead vest at the dentist.

I was playing football with the boy while my wife played soccer with the girl. She wanted to kick some field goals, nailed a couple from 25, but we only got a 20 yarder on video. She wanted to send it to Carli Lloyd, as she saw when Lloyd was kicking at the Eagles facility. My wife Tweeted a video tagging Carli Lloyd, and she retweeted it. My daughter was thrilled, then obsessed watching the number of views going up. When she went to bed, it was getting about 100 views a minutes.

Kicking form looks pretty decent to me. Dont know what that guy is talking about. Could probably stand to lean forward a bit more but love the hips snapping through. Holder, yeah. He sucks.
