Yea, someone is going to have to explain to me why harassing people working at that zoo and people who were legitimately saddened by the killing of an intelligent creature, some of whom cared for it directly on a day to day basis, is so goddamn hilarious. It's nothing personal Johnnie. I think you're hilarious. I enjoy your point of view and your explanations of things that go on inside our military that many of us have never seen and don't know about. My beef is that it's not fucking funny, and it's even less funny to kick someone while they're down. Maybe I'm sensitive to it because I have friends that are zookeepers and have dedicated their life's work to animals like that. Maybe it's because I was kicked around when I was younger. You've got a right to think it's funny. In my opinion, it's not even close.

Drawing attention to an issue is fine. Doing it through comedy is fine. Even the odd "I'm going to hell for this" joke can make me chuckle. But this whole thing has turned into outright bullying. It's not a commentary on the media.

But by focusing indignation at the media through all of these memes is keeping the story in the societal consciousness for a hell of a lot longer than the media ran with the story, while completely ignoring the world issues you are upset that the media is ignoring.
