That seems to be the consensus. I gave up video games a long, long time ago save for the occasional Grand Theft Auto release, but I watched a buddy play and it seemed like a blast.

I sit and watch my son play. He loves the game. It just seems like a lot of time running and chopping shit down and very little time shooting people. Halo was more fun. That said, I haven't played it and do enjoy sitting and making fun of my son and his friends as they get slaughtered.

Frankly, I’ve been in awe of the time some of you guys find for shit like that for years.

Yeah I listen to wait wait and catch up with some le Batard on commutes buts that’s it for me.

I started with podcasts because everything, and I mean everything from local news, to sports radio to every music station in this city to the ever so gentle CBC, that I could get on the radio irritated and/or angered me.

Recently, my adaptor cord broke and I spent a day without podcasts and it made me nuts.

As for when I'm listening to them... Literally right now as I put together my IKEA furniture. Also when driving because the radio is shit.

I used to drive. A lot. Changing channels is annoying. Sirius wasn’t worth the money. I download books or podcasts and listen for hours to interesting shit. If I want music I have that on the same iPhone. I really don’t like local sports because the O’s are garbage, maybe I’ll tune in more once NFL starts.

I've exchanged notes a few times recently with the good doctor. I think he feels that there isn't any tolerance these days hereabouts for opposing political viewpoints, and so he feels a bit disenfranchised, given his libertarian bent. It didn't use to be that way, and I can't say that I feel he's wrong. (A couple guys here go into attack mode if you voice a view that isn't adequately liberal - and I say this as a guy who has gotten much more liberal over time, myself.) Also, he has been having some health issues.

Well, the Giants are 8 back...I can see how he isn't feeling well.

A 6th round pick having a good preseason game is proof that all scouting is dumb and wrong is what I learned yesterday.

Yeah, my reason for going almost full on podcast during my commute:

1) Sports talk is garbage. And I don't give a shit about the Redskins and that is about 80-90 percent of what they talk about, even in the offseason.

2) I have zero tolerance for what music is on almost all of the dial. And they have such annoyingly long commercial breaks.

3) I have dozens of podcasts in my rotation, and they all entertain my a LOT more than anything on terrestrial radio and over most of what I heard on Sirius. And they're free, unless I feel like throwing them a few dollars in support.

I listen to music off the phone or the jazz or NPR stations when I'm in the car. My car commute is only like 20 minutes at most. I change over to the bus for the ride into Boulder and it's music on the way in (so I can read) and podcasts on the way home. I am getting a bit behind on the podcasts though as I've been hitting the Pats training camp podcasts pretty hard and they are 1.5-2 hours a pop.

Due to this and a 2 hour drive, I listened to the first REM podcast by Adam Scott and Scott _______. Rough start but solid once they actually started talking REM.

I listen to podcasts in the car, at the gym, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn... I haven't turned on terrestrial radio once since I got my car in December. It severely cut into my music listening and reading, but I get a lot more out of podcasts.
