Front Row tix to Isbell in Indy on 1/27 for 146/ea on Seatgeek. Am I crazy to wait to buy these?

Arcade Fire last night was excellent. The stage was "in the round"...in the center of the floor, which turned out to be a great setup.

Sounds great, but at an "In the round" venue, aren't you worried that somebody might pee right at you?

Well, it's Arcade Fire so getting some artisanal spring water or rose spilled on you is a bigger concern.

Never realized how badly I've been fucking up the lyrics to this song until now.

Me since 1985: "I'll be gone...de-do-de-do-DOOOOOO..."

Trying to decide on The War on Drugs in Chicago tonight. I'm in the suburbs, so it's quite a drive. And it's a quiet hotel with no annoying kids.

That's a pretty good lineup. We just skipped a local Avett Bros. show for the first time in like 10 of their trips to central Florida. Was at an outdoor festival on a Sunday night. Feels like they make their way down here every 4-6 months.

The music lineup is like if they tried to get all the bands we collectively like, struck out and then started guessing at who would be sorta similar enough.

Well, the lineup is fine enough, especially given a three-day pass only costs $149 but I meant more of combining a music festival with spring training baseball.

That's my issue with most "festival" music, especially one that far away. Looks super cool but I get down into it and there's 2 bands I really would love to see, and 3-4 I wouldn't mind showing up for and the rest is kinda whatever.

The best though is discovering new bands. I had no idea who Ha Ha Tonka was before the 2011 ACLFest and now they're one of my favorite bands.

But this one isn't filled with bands I've never heard of underneath bands I like, its bands I don't really care to see plus The Decemberists and Local Natives. I am NOT going.

Jesus, this is one of those "I'm old and it really sucks" things. I've heard of only three of those acts, and I've only heard music from two of them.

And I'll bet it wouldn't be hard to figure out which two.

Well, I'm an old guy and I like all three of the headliners (Chris Stapleton, QotSA, Avetts), wouldn't mind seeing several of the others, plus there are two old bands I saw in the 1990s (Gin Blossoms and Counting Crows).

As someone who saw Counting Crows a decade ago, I'd recommend not seeing Counting Crows now.

I guess it's not just being old, but also pathetic when it comes to things like keeping up with music. The two old bands you saw in the 1990s are the only two I know of. Plus Eagles of Death Metal, but that's not because of their music.

Counting Crows did a Catholic Church Oktoberfest here in town a few years back. But not like a big festival in Cincinnati or COlumbus or whatnot. In the parking lot of a local Catholic Church.

The Gin Blossoms have at least two perfect songs. The Counting Crows have one pretty much perfect album.

I currently wouldn't go super out of my way (in terms of time or money or both) to see either of them. I probably would go see them at some small local venue such as a church parking lot.

Its weird how we start on the same bands and our arcs are just completely different. AaEA is an all-timer, Recovering the Satellites a solid follow-up to an almost impossible to follow-up on debut, but after that it went real bad for me. Too cheery, seems to have run out of ideas.

I don't think This Desert Life is cheery at all, other than maybe the first single. That's probably my favorite album top to bottom.

Hangingaround sets a horrible tone and there are a bunch that are too ... dance-y isn't the right word, but I couldn't accept bouncing around to a CC song. I feel like in person, perhaps next time Rass sees me, I could demonstrate better what I mean. Like more than half the songs you can do a half-time version of this peanuts kid dance below. The whole sound changed to me.
