OMG the opening band was doing what I can only describe as an insanely earnest impression of Imagine Dragons as humanly possible and what am I doing here? I have not been to a show like this in so long.

I mean like so bad I’m sending this message during the show which Is insanely rude but it’s SO bad I’m wondering if my entire life has been a lie until this moment and I’m gonna be exposed Truman Show style.

I walked out of a dirks Bentley show once after cross Canadian ragweed opened for him. He was in his early Days but now he’s one of the few mainstream country artists that I can handle.

But his version of Folsom prison was awful so we left.

I’m a little high (obvs) but feel I got my shit together. Though I just had an “only in Vegas” moment where I met someone who works with a good friend of mine at this concert because this is an INSANELY small town in some ways. Like good and bad ways. You need to KNOW someone to get a good job in this town. That’s the bad part

Yea Cody may have been just as / more hammered than you at that point in his Ragweed tenure.

Never been to Orpheum (which seems crazy, given how many shows I've seen at Ritz and Crowbar). Bringing my 11 year old. Little fucker better not want to leave early.

I moved out of Tampa a few years before it opened. I saw many bands at the Ritz though. And Carmines? What was the restaurant/bar that had the open area outside? I forget. There was a venue in a beer bar in the spaghetti warehouse too. I need to get back to Tampa. Been maybe 7-8 years.

Ritz and Carmine's are both still there. Unsure about the restaurant/bar with the open area, unless you mean Tampa Bay Brewing Company, in Centro Ybor, just under the movie theaters. They were one of the original craft brewers in town. I believe Spaghetti Warehouse is closed now, and that whole building/block is owned by the Scientologists.

A month ago when my wife and I were on vacation in Prague, Czechia, one afternoon we stopped at a beer garden where a guitarist and violinist were playing and singing. Right after we sat down, they played "Souvenirs". I said, "Yeah, John Prine!" The singer was shocked and happy somebody knew John Prine. We chatted with him on his break - so then, he played three more John Prine songs for us in the next set.

As a non sequitur, I'll now mention that tonight I'm going to see Son Volt at Slim's in San Francisco!

I think I’ve mentioned, but when I was younger and dumber that was my favorite Beatles song.

They started the song, and I was like, what is the name of this Harrison penned Beatles track? Then, I was like, wait, this is the Stones. Took about 20 seconds to remember it was early Kinks.

I don't know. That early riff feels Harrisonesque to me. It definitely feels more like Paul as it gets to the verse chorus, but I get a lot of George at the beginning.

The film Juliet, Naked which was released a couple years ago, featured Ethan Hawke singing Waterloo Sunset. He sounded better than you probably think he would.

I was going overboard to emphasize the silliness of suggesting a Beatle that would've written or sang Waterloo Sunset (none of them could).

However, Ray Davies is a better lyricist than any Beatle. But yes, The Beatles were better, only because they stopped before they shit the bed.

We saw Andrew Bird last night, and he was fantastic. Such much talent...and on top of everything else, he's a fantastic whistler! What was weird though: me’Shell NdegéOcello was the opener...and she sounded great...but she played in total darkness. They didn't have any lights on the stage. Couldn't see her at all. Weird...

Man, I had a huge Andrew Bird phase when Armchair Apocrypha came out and working back to loop in ... Mysterious Production of Eggs. I absolutely despise whistling but allowed it for him.

Lots of times, the reason old bands reunite is to cash in on nostalgia and make more coin on a reunion tour than they ever did in their heyday.

I surely don’t know if that’s the case here. But if it is, then this deserves to be in the Irony thread.
