Who wold have thought that he would outlive both Macho and Elizabeth.

I loved that story. And it led up to the Steamboat/Macho match, possibly the greatest WWF match of all time.

George The Animal Steele is why I watched wrestling as an adult. (Shiek, Volkoff and Roddy supporting arguments.). I'll pour out a portion of a turnbuckle for my dead homie.

Steele almost reaching 80 seems like the best possible argument for the dangers of steroids.

Heard on Simmons podcast that WWE and HBO are doing an Andre the Giant 30 for 30-like documentary.

Well looks like George The Animal has someone he can roll with or tag team partner up with
Ivan Koloff, the Russian Bear

I didn't see The Russian Bear much, he was in the northeast when I was a kid and by the time I moved to NYC he had moved on to the NWA, and by the time they were on national TV I had stopped watching. But he was name checked by the Ramones, below. I might have a foreign object in my trunks/I might have to use it, on that punk! (Man, that last Ramones album was great.)

Current WWE and former ECW wrestler Rhyno ran for a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives last year, but lost. And I think Rick Steiner was on a school board, too. And of course, Jerry Lawler ran for mayor in Memphis years ago but lost.

I'm sure some of them did dental work, but probably in a disrespectful fashion.

Oral history of Wrestlemania III. I'm not even a wrestling fan, but lots of interesting stuff in here.

This is outstanding.
Bob Uecker: I remember going to Los Angeles to do the promotion stuff. So I meet Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who incidentally, he says, ‘Uke, why don’t you take a picture with Damien?’ I said, ‘Who’s Damien?’ He says, ‘He’s in the bag.’ I said, ‘Well so am I, give me a couple more beers.’

Figured I'd quote myself instead of copy and paste the question.

Honestly, the card doesn't impress me that much, but I am looking forward to Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens, Neville vs. Austin Aries and even the Miz/Maryse vs. Cena/Nikki Bella (mostly because the build up has been fantastic). AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon could be great, just because Styles is probably the best wrestler on the planet and Shane is insane.

I read the WWE hired Jim Ross back, and he's calling the Lesnar vs. Goldberg match. He won't be on TV all the time but instead will call specialty matches and do some interviews and video work. Glad to see that because he's the best wrestling announcer ever, and hopefully it will help him move on from his wife's death. She was killed a couple of weeks ago when a car collided with her Vespa.

I have spent far too much time going down YouTube rabbit holes on "X" shoots on and buries "Y" clips, but I find I really enjoy Jim Cornette's rants, particularly at Vince Russo and Dixie Carter and I've watched less than a minute of TNA in my life.

Just curious, has Brian G. ever commented to you how he feels about Vince Russo? Seems like some in the wrestling community really like him but others despise him with the passion of a thousands suns.

Oh, and Gronk participated in the Andre the Giant Battle Royale tonight. Considering canceling my WWE Network sub as a result.

And what the hell? Sam Roberts is participating in the broadcast? Who the hell else will be on? I'm rooting for Dan Rather.

Shane McMahon is 47 years old. How the fuck can he do this? I'm going to be 34 and everything hurts all the time. He crashed through a table, went top rope to the opposite end of the ring, and missed a shooting star press. Like holy shit.

And that landing on the SSP looked rough. He's going to have some badly bruised knees tomorrow.

Jericho's light up scarf is awesome.

Jesus Christ. It's 9:35 pm and there are at least five matches remaining. This damn thing might end by midnight. Maybe.

I went out for a hike at the end of the Jericho/Owens matchup. How many matches did I miss?

I see they put the middle announcers table back together.

And i think the right table skills have been destroyed on that DDT but it wasn't.

Also Triple H is a fucking mammoth. And 47 years old. (Forgot to mention it earlier, but Jericho is 46.)

Raw women's title match - Bayley retained, wasn't a great match

Raw three-way tag team ladder match (with a surprise fourth team entering ... the Hardy Boyz are back!) - Hardyz win, excellent match

The Miz and Maryse vs. Cena and Nikki Bella - Cena/Bella wins, and Cena proposed to her in the ring. She said yes. The Miz was great, but the rest was crap.

HHH vs. Rollins is on now, and there's still the following matches to go:

Smackdown women's title
Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
Lesnar vs. Goldberg
Undertaker vs. Reigns

A fatal four way with the Hardy Boyz! Shit I'm gunna have to watch a replay somewhere.

Watching this match now. Pretty good. But the only feed I can find that doesn't cut out is the Spanish announcer feed. So I have the podcast S-Town on in the background.

Being in the crowd for Bray Wyatt's entrance is very, very cool. All of the lights in the arena are turned off and all you see are cell phone screens. Very trippy.

I've never talked to him about him, but I never really knew about Russo until the last couple years. Brian G. is rather non-confrontational and really interested in keeping his privacy (like how Edge and Christian didn't mention his name when he was at the live Jericho podcast in NYC), so I doubt he'd ever publicly discuss him.

I would guess Brian is not a fan, though.

Just getting back to this, I looked at Russo's wikipedia and I am pretty sure Brian's hiring was when Russo left. It said Russo was back for a little bit in 2002, so I think that would be the only time they overlapped.
