A friend of mine is on vacation in Virginia and texted me this earlier today.
I was at Walmart this morning in Newport News, VA and the good ol' boy greeter made a joke about "I hope you can run if you hear pop-pop-pop!" Classy as fuck.
I'm not a violent person at all, but I probably would've decked that fuck if he'd said that to me.

I'm really not a "call the manager" guy, but at a minimum I would have considered doing that.

I'd be like "Oh, don't you worry. Now I know whose knee to blow out on my way out the door. Pop pop pop!"

I'm going to allow for a bit of gallows humor, "people deal with trauma in different ways" there. I'm sure a lot of walmart / public workers are on edge today and that dude has to talk to everyone.

Or (and I've no idea because I wasn't able to look him in the eye as he said it) he felt comfortable enough to joke about it because he knows he can now hide in plain sight.

I'd imagine that no one here was surprised to learn the the Dayton shooter had white skin.

Totally, and probably a much better chance yours than mine, just saying it’s not a lock this dude is terrible despite the terrible comment.

Minor comfort, but Moscow Mitch tripped on his patio and broke one of his two racist shoulders. I’d pay for the video.

I take comfort from the fact that my sister told me that her recovery from a similar injury was excruciating.

And one of those killed was his sister.

ETA: And in case anyone is wondering, the folks I know in Dayton are safe.

My dad has a bum shoulder. He still golfs, but it bothers him.

'So doc, should I get this operated on?'

'How many times a week do you golf?'

'4'

'Do you get paid to do it?'

'laughter'

'Golf less. You don't want any part of the rehabilitation.'

I’ve looked into it for my (probable) rotator cuff and I can’t see any way it’s an option. Pain and rehab seem really awful. And I like that McConnell can’t buy his way out of the recovery and also I hope he dies from it.

It does hurt but the rehab isn't insane or anything and it just depends on how much it bothers you. Would I do mine over if I had the choice? Probably not, but it wasn't really affecting me that badly at the time outside of throwing things.

However, if the pain is bad and getting worse, the longer you wait the more it's gonna suck if you do eventually have it done.

Oh and as for the shootings I was looking at the Gateway Pundit earlier and these are all false flags and so no one's actually dead. So that's a relief!

Totally depends on what the surgery is. I had a torn labrum in both shoulders repaired. Painful for 3 days, and rehab wasn't horrible. I went 10+ years barely able to throw a ball, unable to swing a bat (swinging was fine, making contact hurt like fuck) or play golf for more than 3 or 4 holes, so the rehab was completely worth it. Side benefit, that was in the days where they gave you 3 months worth of pain meds, when 2 days would have sufficed.

I can swing a bat (and I assume a club) without issue, I just can’t throw at all, both dead arm and pain. Just doesn’t seem worth it since normal humans don’t throw much during their day.

I can tell the number of adults on this family trip who have witnessed their child go through an active shooter drill is one (me), because I’m the only one shook from this. My vacation feels ruined and I just want to go home. I’m so sad and mad about it all.

Honestly, Beto's most "presidential" moment yet. Was about time one of the candidates for president singled out the media for amplifying Trump's rhetoric without condemning it.

One of the more surreal things about the carnage this weekend is that most of the Dem candidates were in Las Vegas on Saturday for an AFSCME forum. We know all too well how this plays out. It keeps the media attention for awhile, but eventually even 58 people killed in 10 minutes doesn't matter. The only solution is to completely destroy the Republican Party.

The top two stories on their site yesterday had the same headline. I looked at both and the change was the name/place of the quoted resident. I expect they are all that way.

That was perfect. And I am all for him throwing that right back in the media's face. They all need to do that.

Yes. They just change the details but keep 90% of it exactly the same.

"Its these questions that you know the answers to" is really the best part of that quote. The rest is good soundbite, but that's the one that should hurt.

Here's an objectively shitty and pointless take...
In the past 48hrs, the USA horrifically lost 34 people to mass shootings.

On average, across any 48hrs, we also lose…

500 to Medical errors
300 to the Flu
250 to Suicide
200 to Car Accidents
40 to Homicide via Handgun

Often our emotions respond more to spectacle than to data.

I wouldn't say it's a pointless take, but it was extremely poorly timed. And yeah, given his tenuous hold on his positive image, a really stupid thing to Tweet. He did issue an apology.

Nah, it's pretty fucking pointless IMO.

None of the awkward nerds in here apparently.

It's a shitty take in that those other things we're actually actively trying to prevent. It'd be like if we knew that we had a cure for cancer but an extremely powerful organization with massive influence was stopping us from using it.

Actually, that may be a terrible example.

Do they have a mass shootings idiot response starter kit? Don't know how many mentions of Chicago I've seen in the past few days. It's the 2nd amendment assholes first line of defence.

Just as senseless killing, but their not mass shootings and often drug or gang-related rather than white Christian snowflake related. But, but Chicago.
