I fear that Tuesday's funeral will be over the top and politicized. It will come off as in poor taste, especially during COVID. Quietly people might be annoyed. We've had discussions here about not being able to go to funerals or cemeteries during COVID.

Why'd these idiots do that? Is it a feeling of impunity? Ignorance of how the internet works?

Or more likely, do we just see the tip of the iceberg when a story like this breaks?

Ladies and Gentlemen, you new bestest mayor... DC's Muriel Bowser.

This is fucking AWESOME. If you don't want to click through, she had her crew paint a MASSIVE Black Lives Matter in bright yellow on 16th Street, which leads to the WH and Lafayette Park.

Such an amazing troll job.

So reports this morning are that the three officers are going to cooperate with the DA. In fact one guy was on his 3rd day on the job, another guy on his 4th. So I think it's understandable why they didn't step in on a 20 year veteran.

I mean, at least the governor is calling on them to resign. And Biden's within 1 of Trump in the latest poll.

Kids at my high school organized a BLM march that had an amazing turnout given the demographics of the actual town I live in. That would've been unheard of just a few years ago.

Yeah, Texas is turning bluer faster than a lot of people realize. Frankly, these outbursts from some of the dinosaurs could be a consequence of that.

Probably been brought up on the board already, but Beto's drive right now is to register what he estimates to be around 1 million ppl that have moved to Texas but haven't registered to vote in the state yet. Vast majority moving to urban areas.

If that figure is close to being accurate, that state is in play. I mean, obvious caveat is that he has to get them in the system.

That's awesome. I do hope Texas goes blue in 2020 and these 'on the ground' steps are a really good strategy.

A lot of college students had their internships get cancelled. So many Universities are scrambling to find placements. It may be worthwhile to reach out to a local college if you can do it.

Agreed. My workplace had to cancel 15 summer students while I listened into a Zoom meeting with our counterparts in Ontario with their summer students. That was embarrassing. We're so disorganized here, missed opportunity, and bad press, as I know some who went on linkedin and ranted about it. Probably not good for their future prospects but still, it's bad press.

Brian, if your company can get ahead of others on an internship program, you'll get amazing applicants.

Articles I've read say it's a military family in San Antonio. It's most likely Air Force. The whole story is heart wrenching.

We were pretty bummed that they blanket canceled all internships, because Comms definitely could've used extra hands on deck.

With that said, the decision had to be made back in March, and there are other folks involved in the process -- IT and HR -- and they were absolutely HAMMERED at the time with crisis mitigation. So, I understood and didn't squawk about it at the time.

But more nimble organizations can and should be gobbling up talent right now. If you and your department have the privilege of teleworking, you can and should be putting these kids to good use.

I'm not sure what that last threat is supposed to imply. DC Is already being occupied by the military. Trump is going to remove the military presence and then bring in a completely different military presence?

Yes I think he means she cant just remove the military presence and be the end of it, he'll keep bringing in new ones.

Hes ranting about the national guard who worked all night got evicted out of their hotels this morning.

Sure, but if the Utah National Guard has to go home there's still plenty of military in DC. Maybe I'm giving Trump's insane rantings too much validity.

Not sure what you mean by lately, but we had a very bad night in St. Louis on Monday night. A 7-11 was torched, a historic building suffered fire damage, dozens of businesses were damaged or burglarized, a retired police captain working private security for a friend’s pawn shop was killed in a looting robbery, and four active duty police officers were shot (their wounds were not life threatening). There have been curfews in place the last three nights and no major issues since then.
