I think this is true of a lot of popular “intellectuals.” Malcolm Gladwell and Sam Harris are two others that immediately come to mind. I thought Gladwell sounded smart when he talked about psychology (which I know hardly anything about) but then when I read articles of his about sports or listened to his podcasts with Simmons, I thought he was completely full of it. Harris also exaggerates his academic credentials and uses the guise of “rational” and “scientific” thinking as cover for own garden variety biases.

Someone somewhere wrote that Shapiro is (paraphrasing) a dumb person's idea of a smart person, which seems accurate.

Fitting in that his audience is those who love the president who is - as Fran Liebovitz said - "a poor person's idea of a rich person."

For decades now, the guy has cancelled concerts with amazing regularity, quite often when he is in the venue with thousands of his fans awaiting the show. Often for extremely lame reasons. This article lays it out. I'm not even much of a fan, but after reading the article, I felt the need for this post.

Since 1991, he has cancelled or postponed a mind-boggling 251 shows, per this website, which lists every single one of them.

And he's a racist right winger as well.

I posted about this in the 'Stupid Watergate' thread. Somehow Rudy's son gets a job in the White House (making $90K a year!) and all he does is set up team's visits to the WH and play golf. And Trump and Rudy want to talk about Hunter Biden getting hired for a job.

And fun note about Andrew Guiliani...he got kicked off the Duke golf team...and then sued (and lost).

Andrew Giuliani . . .
Unruly brat or good kid who just wanted to play golf at Duke?

On Feb. 11, 2008, two weeks after his father quit the presidential race, Andrew Giuliani was booted from the school's golf team. He looks like a Nicklaus—fair-skinned with sun-brightened blond hair—and at 5-feet-10, 210, to quote a witness, he's "built like a brick house." Never more than a second-stringer at an elite program, he made national news in July with the lawsuit against the university and golf coach O.D. Vincent.

Giuliani claims he was unfairly dismissed. The suit argues that his enrollment at Duke constituted a contract in which his payment of $200,000 in tuition and fees across four years brought him, among other things, lifetime access to the university's golf facilities. The suit asks for that access, compensatory damages, exemplary damages, legal fees and a ruling that student-athletes enjoy contractual rights.

Duke's argument is that no such contract has ever existed and that the university's golf opportunities are a privilege, not a right.

You'd have to be a really shitty person when Duke is the sympathetic party in a dispute.

Andrew Giuliani was a royal douchebag since he was 9. I remember a controversy when he was acting like a little shit at the swearing in or a campaign event or something. Then another issue at a Yankee game where he acted like a spoiled entitled brat, but can't remember what it was. Then all Giulianis kids spoke out against his 2008 Presidential run. Fuck them.

Thanks Giff, that picture is fucking gold. I found a clip of the swearing in, and thought it wasn't as bad as I remembered, then found this clip with the address. Andrew continued being a douche the entire swearing in, and tried to grad the mic after.

That's funny, I like Jost so I never saw his face as punchable, but now that he mentions it...

Side note, there is nothing funnier to me than when Jost and Che write jokes for each other that they have to read live on the air for the first time. Jost's are OK, but Che's super-racist jokes, and Jost's discomfort in reading them always kills me.

I don’t know why DSafe wants to punch him, anyway. I mean, I’ve never heard of him doing anything objectionable, other than not wearing a mask in his quarterback meeting. His mama stuck up for him.

Yeah, I don't think I'm all that comfortable with the attention that story is getting. It sounds like she is somewhat delusional, and we are getting our jollies by laughing at her.

I'm definitely not laughing/taking any jollies from her story. I've known too many people that have had delusions when it comes to relationships. I just think her public interview is an interesting move to make. Literally while I was reading the story CBS This Morning ran a small blurb about it in their 8:30 block...it made me wonder if she thought through the public response/backlash or was strictly focusing on getting his attention.
