Man stuffs girlfriend in a duffel bag in an attempt to sneak her into a sober-living halfway house.

The police were contacted when someone saw an arm sticking out of the bag, but no charges were filed once it was determined that the girlfriend was a willing participant.

I'm no Walmart apologist, but this is just a stunt...

Now, one should probably consider the source of this photo: OUR Walmart, an organization meant to mobilize Walmart workers for better pay and work conditions. It happens to be backed by the United Food and Commercial Workers union, with access to some very smart public relations people. They know that most people would have a very visceral negative reaction to relatively low-paid Walmart workers being asked to help out their worse-off colleagues.

I'm not reading it that way. The pro-worker group took the photo, but the store admits the food drive took place:

If you ask Walmart, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer did, this food drive is just an indication that store employees take care of each other. “This is part of the company’s culture to rally around associates and take care of them when they face extreme hardships,” the spokesman explained.

I don't think giving to help those you know is a bad thing. You have to consider that, by and large, Walmart isn't a destination job and the people that work there know that they aren't exactly living the dream. And if you happen to be one of the people - maybe you're the second income or maybe you are semi-retired - who maybe can afford to drop some stuff in there then so be it.

And it may have even been a management run program of their own volition program and not driven by Bentonville. I'm guessing that most Walmart managers are well aware of their less that stellar track record for employees.

As great as that story sounds, I don't think it's true. If you Google "Dayton Daily News Tracy Waters" you get a couple of links to this story, but none of them are from the DDN. And the quotes in the story are just way too good to be true.

He cut his grandmother's phone lines, stole her cell phone and Jeep and headed off to find the young girl he had been harassing over the internet. And he totally would have made it, except when he ran out of gas and money he just gave up and called the cops.

Wow. You failed to mention that he talked a 15 yo girl into sending him naked pics, then hacked her Facebook account and posted the pics. This 911 call is incredible.
