Just heard this for the first time.

A late entry -

"beautiful, with an exotic-yet-familiar facial structure and an arresting gaze."

Also, O Come, O Come Emmanuel works for me pretty much whatever version - even a crappy country version.

I like ~90% of all old-timey Christmas songs. Every new one since about 1965 sucks. Just stop trying to add new ones to the canon.

And no, Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" isn't a "classic." Fuck all that pretentious warbling.

I head the trippiest version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas on the radio this morning. In the middle of the song, it starts going...

Now bring us some figgy pudding
Now bring us some figgy pudding
Now bring us some figgy pudding
And bring it right here.

We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it right here.

They play the longer version in church. That's why he never heard those extra verses.

It's in the Bing Crosby version!

Yes! I thought it was Bing! Is that from a movie or something? I can't grasp any context where anyone should be saying those words.

You CANNOT slip one by Jerloma, fellas.

(It probably isn't but it would be great to think Bing's been snowing people over all these years - or in your case, today.)

A couple of years ago, Nick Lowe released a really good Christmas album. It's called "Quality Street."

This one should be a holiday standard...

When they (Jenny Lewis and David Johanson) did that song on the "Very Murray Christmas" netflix special, they skipped that verse.
