So a guy named Brody Stevens died and so many big name comedians are posting about it. I have legit never heard of the guy.

He was awesome. Super funny guy, but also very open about dealing with his issues. Heard him on a bunch of podcasts over the year, and by the end the host was always talking just like him.

He also played baseball at Arizona State (was a pitcher), and his real name was Steven Brody, but so many people just called him 'Brody' that he legally changed his name.

If this was Tig Notaro, I'm pretty sure it would have taken several hours to figure it out.

I just listened to the Dollop episode about Tommy Cooper, a British comedian who died on live television (almost 35 years ago to the day). He had some physical pratfalls as part of his act, so everyone thought he was just doing a bit.

And, yes, when the curtain ripples out at the end when the graphic is up, people are dragging Cooper backstage to try to get him medical attention.

I'm a member of the "Tommy Cooper Appreciation Society" on Facebook, and this video causes rage amongst the members. They hate it.

I think that Dick Shawn also died on stage.

Not a comedian in the regular sense, but drummer Country Dick Montana of The Beat Farmers died of a heart attack in the middle of a gig, at Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. I read that because he was such a wild guy, fans didn't realize it wasn't part of the act.

Wife was in the mood for comedy last night and Netflix has a new Kevin Hart standup show. Never seen his stand up before, but liked him on SNL a couple of years ago.

We lasted 15 minutes or so. It's bad, really bad.

So over to the new Amy Shumer and it was a hell of a lot better. Not great, but not bad at all.

He jumped the shark a long fucking time ago. He had a couple decent stand up specials and somehow that catapulted him into super stardom.

I'd agree with that. Plus he's also the type of comedian that doesn't have serious material so he caters to a wider crowd.

Just watched Judd Apatow's Netflix show (my wife is on a stand up binge)

Meh.

Or as we'd say in Yiddish: "Feh"

Some fun lines, but it seemed like he took a bunch of dinner party stories and stitched them together.

And boy, nothing kills a joke faster than when you drop names. (Something I just learned watching this show.)

Absolutely lost it with that Taylor Swift clue.

Also, Jeselnik's new stand up came out yesterday on Netflix. Can't wait to watch.

I was at a fundraising gala tonight featuring Jay Leno. Had to leave early due to an emergency, and missed Leno. Not sure if I should be disappointed. I was interested in Leno, until someone told me Seth Meyers was the act last year, and Trevor Noah the year before.

I’ve seen him. You didn’t miss much. My mother and aunt thought he was great. I’m pretty sure he was coked out of his head when I saw him a few years ago.

Plus a fundraiser setting isn't conducive to comedy. But I am disappointed we ran out without our gift bags. Judging by the quality of this event, the gift bags were probably sweet. The open bar had Lagavulin, FFS! And they gave me a 5 oz pour.

That guy is such a douche bag. He was funny a couple times a decade plus ago and for whatever reason he's just become exactly what he's being moved about on that playlist. Except that playlist is missing out on his Hillary Clinton hating too.

He had a NY radio show about 10 years ago. I liked him, and didn't mind when he'd get on a right wing political rant. I disagreed with him, but he was funny, and I could understand his view. Now, he is an angry old man screaming FoxNews talking points. He came across as a crazy fool on Rogan's podcast. He kept screaming ridiculous talking points, and Rogan kept saying, "but how do you know that's true?" and he'd stammer about Hillary, the Fake News hating Trump... And he'd accuse Liberals of being sheep, yet he couldn't expand on anything beyond the clickbait headlines and Trump tweets, fully accepting them as gospel.
