The Griffith Observatory Thread

Post by rass »

This thread herein provides pop-culture inclusions/references to the aforementioned Griffith Observatory, or pictures Swampers have taken from their own visits.

I hope there are more than the handful I have popping in my head right now...

Other than Dodger Stadium, that was my favorite place up until 10yo. I'd pester my dad to go there over and over.

This started because I was watching Agent Carter (and drinking whiskey) last night and a scene took place at the Observatory.

Pretty sure one of the vignettes from a current Cialis commercial takes place at the observatory.

Bowfinger is tremendous on many levels. She is one of those levels. And...so glad to contribute to this thread!

Damn, I didn't know this thread existed.

I tried to get there when I was in LA in April, when my son dragged me down there to see Iron Maiden.

But it was a sunny Saturday in April. So no parking. This was as close as we could get:

Luckily we could get a lot closer at Dodger Stadium the night before:

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I’m reading The Disaster Artist and there are a number of James Dean references and a scene at the observatory. I guess I’ll see if it makes it into the movie.

Also, Bojack Horseman.

You watch football long enough, you can pretty much predict the local beauty shots they show going in and out of breaks.

The ones they show for Buffalo are probably the saddest of all, with the best shots being from a different country (Niagara Falls)

Movie about a beleaguered middle-aged man who travels across the country just to finally see the Griffith Observatory only to be denied because it's been closed for the weekend for the taping of a private celebrity concert. Just have to decide if it's a comedy (like most of Vacation, with more time spent on the journey than the destination) or a thriller (like the end of Vacation, only with an audience of some of the most famous people in the world to hold hostage instead of a young John Candy).

Possible titles:
50 Going on 30
Shooting for the Stars

That's great but has to be a comedy then. Don't think Jeep wants James Corden's blood on their hands.
