This really should be a huge story.

So the argument is that verifiable history is too much for their sensitive viewers to handle?

What's really telling is that unlike the point I made on Fb yesterday, which DIRECTLY links MAGA with some of the footage in the film... The filmmakers and the 30 second ad aren't being that direct.

That's a connection that, clearly, the Fox execs understand.

I know it's an obvious point, but, wow... Basically saying "we can't show our audience just how much we're drawing from the Nazi playbook" is fucking damning as Hell.

Variety did a huge story as well, but honestly I've got a little bit of Office Space exhaustion at this point which I wouldn't have ever thought possible.

Yeah, I spent a total of 10 minutes on Facebook today, already seen 3 different pieces on Office Space.

Can You Ever Forgive Me is somewhere between "good" and "meh."

Not bad, but I think it's a story that would work better as a book or a long New Yorker sort of piece.

The main character Lee Israel is pretty much irredeemably sour. Very hard to care about.
Good acting though.

Watched a couple of movies on the plane on my recent trip:

- 'The Dawn Wall: About Tommy Caldwell, basically. Not 'Free Solo', but the other 'climb El Capitan' movie. Not sure why this didn't get more play, but its great.

- 'Widow's: What a great movie! Incredibly overlooked. Can't believe it wasn't a huge hit. Great acting by everyone, especially Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debecki, Cynthia Erivo, Daniel Kaluuya, and a great appearance by Robert Duvall as a foul-mouthed elder. Definitely recommended.

I watched "I'm Not There" last night, a biopic about Dylan. A bunch of different actors play characters based on him throughout his life. Frankly, the narrative is so subtle that if you don't really know much about him other than he can write a song like it's nobody's business, it's really tough to follow.

Worth it just for Cate Blanchette though. What a mindfuck. I'm still not convinced it's her.

I’ve seen enough commercials for this on ESPN streaming that I feel compelled to say something: the premise of Creed 2 is completely preposterous.

Agreed. Great filmmaking. Although I cringe a bit at how they seem to whitewash and make the Confederacy look innocent.

The base was given a bunch of free tickets for Captain Marvel for a sneak preview tomorrow. Free is worth it since going to the movies costs way too fucking much these days.

I liked it. It's a comic book movie so I'm always impressed with the CGI and stuff, so that works for me. The story is a bit lacking, but it's really, really cool to have a strong woman super hero. Also, the movie is partial Air Force propaganda, so another thumbs up in that area.

What kinda sucked was being forced to either leave my cell phone in the car or surrender it to the ushers when you walked in because OH MY GOD PIRATING. I grabbed my pocket a couple times half panicked.

Another thing was the line that formed like an hour prior to the movie because of the "first come, first served" basis. Apparently a theater's worth of tickets were distributed to radio stations, the Air Force base, and a couple other organizations in town. We had to sit in the third row.

Not because it's bad... no, it's great. But because of what this Alex guy does.
