I mean, if we're doing another Verhoeven film at this point I might have to insist it's Starship Troopers, because that's a fascinating movie right there.

Wow, I just watched The Platform on Netflix. It's a Spanish sci-fi film that's sort of a vertical version of Snowpiercer. A simple premise and a fairly simple movie, but it's disturbing (and fairly gory). It's an obvious parable of the cruelty of capitalism and the impracticality of socialism. Worth a watch.

It's also what happens when guys that have been dying their hair for 15-20 years decide to stop doing so.

I started getting grey hairs when I was 25 years old and decided to just lean into it. But I get why a guy on camera all the time can't do that.

But it's jarring when they stop like that.

Speaking from personal experience, going gray at 25 beats the hell out of losing your hair at 25. I've never really understood dyeing your hair, but to each their own of course.

I'm mostly all gray now, and it's all happened in the past 10 years. Sometimes I look in the mirror or at an old photograph and wonder what the hell happened. But yes, I"m vain enough to agree that it does beat the hell out of losing your hair.

My goatee and subsequent beard went gray very quickly, but the hair on the top of my head has not. I normally shave the sides, but have recently decided to let that grow out too and am starting to see some gray there. Apparently it's been noticed in a good way by some of the females we hang out with, per my wife! Between that and losing 20+ lbs, I'm turning into a DILF apparently. #humblebrag

They say that your mother's father's head of hair will dictate your hair 'health'. I dunno how accurate that is, because my younger brother has the same head of hair as my dad (thin, balding). My hair is hardly showing any signs of a receding hairline. Still thick. No thinning where a bald spot might start. My mom's dad had a bald spot as long as I knew him...And apparently he had one most of his adult life according to my mother.

I'm also taller than everybody in my family.

But my dad was adopted. So maybe I'm showing genes from an unknown contributor.

Oh well.

My father's father was buried with a beautiful head of white hair - like John Forsythe's back in the day.

My mother's father wore a hat to his wedding, and not because he was religious. He was a cueball at 30.

A small sample size, but one that supports the theory.

After watching Midnight Run in memoriam of Charles Grodin tonight, I've now seen Yaphet Kotto in three times as many of his movies since he's been dead than when he was alive. And that's only because the Swamp's viewing of Running Man was about three weeks before he passed.

James Hampton (Mr. Howard in "Teen Wolf") died the day we watched that movie, so it just took about six weeks longer for us to hit our peak.

We watched 'In the Heights', the new Lin-Manuel Miranda musical, last night. And it was fun, and really well made.

Trailer dropped for The Many Saints Of Newark (Sopranos prequel). Looks like it's gonna be either really good or really bad (and yes, that's James Gandolfini's son playing Tony Soprano as a teenager.

Doesn't this mess with the time line of the show? From my recollection, wouldn't Tony have been about 8 or so at the time of the Newark Riots?
