Won't watch it. Fuck Mel Gibson.
Seconded.
Movie types are such raving hypocrites.
Kevin Hart had a tweet that was offensive and loses the Academy Awards gig.
Mel Gibson abuses his wife, goes on racist tirades and supports a traditionalist sect of Catholicism... yet here he is.
Basically, it's just waiting long enough for enough of the complaints about him to die down before it's okay to cast him in something again. He went six years with nothing, then some straight-to-DVD and smaller stuff. When there's no blowback, major studios deem it acceptable to cast him in smaller roles ("Expendables 3", "Daddy's Home 2") and eventually, everyone "forgets".

Just watched Paper Moon, oddly, for the first time.
It is excellent. Highly recommended.

FWIW im a big fan of both Inside Llewelyn Davis and Paper Moon.
I read an autobiography by folkie Dave Van Ronk some time ago. I understand it influenced the script of ILD.

Hate when I read my posts in the am and realize I was drunker than I thought the night before.
The first Borat held up pretty good. The naked wrestling scene, which killed when I saw in the theater perhaps just due to collective shock, couldn’t live up to the initial experience but I had forgotten the rodeo and dinner party scenes. Excited for tonight.
I also stayed up and watched the most recent Terminator movie after that. Extremely low bar, but definitely the best of the post-T2 films, I think. Actors were all good, the overall story fine, some good fight scenes, but the execution and plot convulsions to move from piece to piece were off. It was like “we gotta have a cool mid-air plane fight, I don’t care how it happens!”
Not really a spoiler, but the actress who plays his daughter is absolutely amazingly funny.
Watched Borat last night. Just go into it realizing they are trying to cobble a plot around whatever prank videos they can scrape up. There were a lot of laughs, and I am astounded that he was able to get inside CPAC for Mike Pence's speech and get Rudy to fiddle his chram on camera. The actress was tremendous. She held her own with Borat, and was as good as he is at playing people to get reactions. Amazing. Also funny to see the scene where he got onstage singing bluegrass music at a Trump festival. Had seen news clips of it, had no idea at the time he was filming a movie, just thought he was pulling a one-off stunt. He somehow got the organizer to book him as the headline act. Crazy.

This is literally every night for me. Do you people hate your wives?
Love my wife.
Hate her taste in television. She and my daughter are on the same wavelength, so they bond regularly.

I agree that the scene in Borat 2 that Pruitt hid was the show stopper. The guys he quarantined with had to be actors, right?
On the Rudy scene. It really did look like a tuck, but who lays back to tuck, and he retired to the bedroom to have drinks with her!
Watched a couple of other movies earlier in the day, both on Netflix. Vampires vs The Bronx was a worthy enough addition to the “kids fight monsters on their own because no adults believe them” genre. Very much set in the modern day but with that recognizable spirit, and pretty fun.
We also watched Over the Moon. Beautiful animation, well performed songs if no earworms, and a character that couldn’t be a more blatant knockoff of Olaf from Frozen. There is an actual gut punch when the credits roll, though. The film is dedicated to the memory of “Audrey Wells” and then a couple of seconds later we see that she was the screenwriter. She died of cancer during production, leaving behind her husband and daughter. Given the plot of the movie, that was pretty devastating to learn.

RZA is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Ghost Dog: Way Of The Samurai for the next two weeks and this is where I tell you if you have not seen it, you need to rectify that post-haste. One of the best movies of the 21st century, arguably the highlight of Forest Whitaker's career (which is saying something) and a note-perfect score by the RZA.

Watching "A Most Beautiful Thing". Falls into the low $ sports documentary genre I keep getting recommended on Amazon Prime (Problem with their algorithm is the same issue I have with Pandora....biases to stuff I have watched/listened to way too heavily...need to throw in some variety now and then).
Anyway this is about kids from the rough rough part of Chicago getting pulled into rowing back in 1998. They interviews were done ~20 years after, which allows them to look back. Super compelling.
Also watched Tour De Pharmacy (Andy Samberg) right before starting it. Pretty good short movie...with really good casting.

I think it’s because South Philly has a lot of great character and there’s a blue collar work ethic and grit. I think a lot of people have chips on their shoulders and I think that breeds people that want to express themselves in different ways.
This would seem to imply its a doc about ethnic white fans.

Watching the first mad max. I’m not going to bother with spoiler tags for a forty year old movie.
First off I do not remember this at all despite thinking I had watched it.
Second there’s a scene where the bad gang is destroying a vehicle. They have already taken an axe to the engine and shit then they cut to a shot of a guy slashing tires. Overkill?
Also they killed the people in the car? Seems like the car would have been a nice asset for a roving gang?

I remember the old HBO guide (remember those? The little glossy paper ones?) description for Mad Max was something along the lines of 'Most stunts ever done in one movie!'

Holy shit I loved those. I'd make my Mom drive past the cable company in town where they'd put the new ones out a couple days before the next week started.

Completely forgot about that. I also remember stopping by the cable company office to pick up the monthly brochure/schedule. What a weird concept looking back.
