So, maybe a 4 seed was just about right for Kentucky. Fun game, but too much one-on-one, underuse of the big guys on both sides (yes I am an old man*.) But if Indiana's white guys made two or three 3s, they cruise to the next round.

*(yes, and I have a little trouble with a point guard wearing #11 at that school)

Both teams deserved higher seeds. But uk has no front court reliability. Oh wel.

Butler just has no answer for Gill, unless than answer is "foul him while he still scores 80% of the time."

I went to the games in Raleigh last night - UVA-Butler and UNC-Providence. That UVA game was way more stressful than I had hoped for. Butler is a tough team that makes very few mistakes. I did love how when the obscure, fourth option for Butler went nuts, hitting three straight threes and then an old skool three-point play, UVA switched Brogdon on him. The kid had 24 points at that point with about 16 minutes left. He scored one more point the rest of the way with Brogdon guarding him. The flip side is that UVA couldn't stop Butler's 6'4" 225 pound "guard" who just kept cannonballing into the lane.

Providence put up a good fight for nearly 30 minutes, but eventually it got too hard to keep playing Carolina 2 on 5.

BTW, the ACC is 10-1 in this tournament so far. 10-1!

If Villanova loses today, will Jay Wright be in the CBS studio in time to analyze the VCU-Oklahoma game for pre-game or just halftime?

Not to make excuses, but Cal went into their Friday game with some heavy baggage. Key assistant was fired for sexual harassment a couple days ago, and the newspapers are all but calling for Cuonzo Martin's head. Then the day before the game, the starting point guard breaks his hand. Sheesh.

And another starter sat because of back spasms. I'd be sympathetic, except it's Cal.

Gonzaga vs. Syracuse has such a wonderful Maui final feel to it. I'm just going to turn the sound off and imagine McDonough and Raf cracking golf jokes.

It's tough to coach but you gotta tell that guy to just sling it or the other end of the court.

Holy shit is anyone watching this A&M - Northern Iowa game? Northern Iowa just absolutely collapsed in the last minute. A&M went on a 14-2 run in in the final 35 seconds to send this game to overtime. Never seen anything like it.

When I was a freshman, UCDavis (Aggies) blew a 20 point lead with 2 minutes left to lose in regulation to UC Riverside, in the D2 regional final. That stood for a long time as the worst I've ever seen.

This was worse.

That dude was on tilt at that point. He had two dudes harassing him in the corner so that he didn't even see his wide open teammate standing about 6 feet away. The idea of just hucking the ball down the court was never going to come to mind.

As I type this, NIU has finally calmed down and is hitting shots again. I really hope they don't lose this. It would be soul-crushing.

I'm yelling at that guy to fucking GO. He waited too long to start, but then he calmly pulls up from 23 and nails the three. Shows what I know. Of course, A&M calmly drove down for a layup putting them down one with about 20 seconds to go. Exactly where they want to be in this game. Will NIU manage to not turn it over this time?

Double OT.

Switched to Wisconsin - Xavier just in time to see two clutch shots in a row. X with the ball, tie game and 11.7 seconds left.

What a night of hoops.

I don't know, I think it was. I don't really like that kind of play in general, but the defender had him perfectly squared up and the X man drove right into the guy's chest. Crazy call for that point of a game.

UNI is playing second OT tight. When A&M went up 3 with 2.5 minutes to go, UNI called timeout and ran a slow isolation play, like it was under a minute to go. Just keep playing and driving at that point! That said, A&M is missing free throws to keep this alive...

UNI wins if the guy chucks the inbound pass deep 4 times, regardless of who comes up with it.
