50. Connecticut/Michigan/Wisconsin - American Robin. The robin is what you pick when you just found out that you need a state bird and the deadline is in 5 minutes. Lame.

OR!... or.... It's the one you pick when it's cold as fuck in the long ass winter and the robin showing up is the first sign of spring.

National Parks I've Been To So Far, weighted 75% by "would I go back?" and 25% "man that was impressive" and also heavily influenced by weather

American League
1. Zion
2. Kings Canyon
3. Sequoia
National League
4. Acadia
5. Shenandoah
6. Smokies

I have no idea what to do with Grand Canyon. It would actually be the last one I'd return to because my feet are still sweaty from that one time I got within 6 feet of a railing and there's really not much there once you've seen the views and you don't care about trekking down from the rim or camping. But I'm superglad we went because it's, you know, the Grand Frigging Canyon

Here's Sabo's rankings, based on the same weighting:

2. Yosemite
3. Volcanoes
4. Grand Canyon
5. Teddy Roosevelt
6. Cuyahoga Valley
7. Mammoth Cave
8. Everglades
9. Shenandoah (this one is being judged harder due to weather; been there twice and the weather was utter shit each time, so fuck it)
10. Smokies

Oh, that's *almost* enough for a mini-draft.

Acadia - One of my favorite places on the planet.
Yellowstone - Went for almost 2 weeks some years back and barely made a dent.
Yosemite - Jaw dropping
Grand Teton - Didn't really have time to explore, mostly a drive-by. Gorgeous.
Smoky Mountains - Something about a camp fire and view in this place is magical.
Rocky Mountain - Mainly did a drive-thru here, would love to go back.
Everglades - Gators.
Mesa Verde - Glad to have seen it, not going back.
Redwood - Tall ass trees. Cool. Next.
Sequoia - See Redwood.
Joshua Tree - Weird ass trees in the desert. Midling U2 album.
Shenandoah - I've spent a LOT of time here. It's nice enough, just kind of there.
Gateway Arch - Cool, but not THAT cool and kind of a check the box thing. Check.

On one hand, I agree that any kind of ranking is completely subjective and there's no real wrong opinions. On the other hand, calling The Joshua Tree a "middling" U2 album is the most ridiculous statement in this thread.

I'm guessing that those of you who gave Sequoia a relatively low ranking probably never ventured far from the main roads. That's the way I felt the first time I visited there. Big trees. Woo hoo. But, the second time we visited, we camped out, and went on some long hikes into large groves of enormous trees that were far from the crowds. It made you feel like you fell into the land of the giants or something. Awe inspiring and jaw dropping beauty.

Can't believe that no one has put any of the Utah parks (Arches/Bryce/Zion/Canyonlands/Capitol Reef) in their rankings. Arches, for me, is an all timer.

Can't believe I missed this thread for five months.

The right answer is Canyonlands/Zion/Bryce/Arches/Capitol Reef. It may depend on whether you are more interested in scenic views versus hiking/biking, and whether you prefer looking at neverending vistas or interesting rock formations.
