Practice facility for the ( ) Knights breaks ground this week.

For those of you unfamiliar with Las Vegas, this is a VERY upscale neighborhood. Safe to expect that most future NHLers who play for the team and purchase homes will essentially be living right down the street.

It's just ice.

While the neighborhood would not currently be described as "upscale", the Devils allow their practice rink to be used (rented?) by all sorts of groups and organizations.

I guess it's different for different sports, but when I was in Cleveland last year, it looked like you'd have to know someone to even try to go the Cavs practice facility. The difference being of course basketball courts are everywhere.

Oh yes they will
The Caps setup is 2 rinks and maybe 10 or so locker rooms. The caps have a weight room, offices, player areas, and team specific locker rooms. Players park in the mall garage (Lots of pics of Ovis poor parking). They also have stands on the main Caps rink. The caps have a fan shop and a pro shop (hockey and figure skating gear). They have an open space for events and dry land training. The Caps player enter through the same door but a quick right puts them in the "caps" section that is restricted access. All Caps practices are open to the public (but the World Cup of Hockey practices were not because of the NHLPA).

The facility is used from 5:30-11:30 every day of the year. They host pickup hockey at lunch time, youth games and training, mens league, camps, etc. I am thinking about trying to setup a Broomball charity event there for Movember.

The mall is going over a complete overhaul right now so it is a ghost town in terms of shoppers. The only thing open is the movie theater, a health club, and the Macy's. But when we would be near by we always pop by to see if the caps were skating or a youth tournament or such.

Bolts do similar thing to Caps. 2 rinks, generally open to public, about 10-15 minutes away from arena via interstate. There's more public use of the facilities than Bolts use, as I think the Bolts skate at the arena a lot. I do think that they have ability to bump anything at the practice facility if they need to use it though.

Ice time is so expensive (i.e. valuable) in most cities that they're almost stupid if they don't rent it out when the team isn't using it. Until this is built, there are only three other full-time, full-size ice sheets in the entire city of Las Vegas. So little that any kind of just "open skating" time is rare.

I remember when the Ducks were introduced (summer of 93). I was at the World Scholar Athlete Games at U of Rhode Island. There was a very lovely blonde, tennis player from Anaheim that had a very solid Ducks hat. I was not successful in getting the lid from her. Hung out with her a whole bunch, but no hat.

Haven't gotten ahold of Rams Fanny despite trying so hopefully he doesn't read it here first, but someone was asleep at the switch and I got in to the ticket purchasing interface before our scheduled time today and was able to get Section 204, fourth row, seats right in the middle of the section (so won't be having to get up for people getting in or out.) Seats are basically right at the blue line. About perfect seats because there's a surcharge on seats in the first two rows, so third or fourth row is really ideal since they're basically as good and cost $10 less per seat per game.

Nice! It's always good to get a little cheat/advance into something that's in high demand. My seats are in the middle of my section as well. The two games I've been to this year have been with my sons. Tiny bladders and my tix mean pissing off 8 people in one direction or the other every time they need to go. Like you said though, I never have to get up for anyone crossing in front of me.

Cool. They sound pretty similar to my seats. I'm in the first row of the upper bowl, so I do have to pay a bit more than the guys in the fourth row. But my row is only eight seats wide, which is nice.

I could go either way. But I'd absolutely rather be on an aisle or in the middle and not between. My bladder sucks as I get older but should be able to hold it for the end of a period.

Agreed. I really wanted a pair on the aisle near the good beer stand, but a guy took them from me. I'm very happy with being right on the red line though.

I should have said I definitely want aisle. Have in the past bought worse tickets to concert just to be on aisle.

Samesies. Before Ticketmaster started using interactive maps and you'd blindly get assigned, I would call venues and claim various hardships to get an aisle. Front row middle versus 20th aisle is a no-brainer.
