Agreed. It rained/sleeted all night. We finally got some wispy snow this morning. We MIGHT get an inch when it's all done. That said, some folks not that far west of here have gotten 8+.

our inches of snow last night - temperature then went up to 40 degrees today. It is pouring outside.

Temperature dips below freezing, this city will be a massive skating rink.

On a happier note, golf courses open in 12 weeks or so.

Ice Storm!!

Touch wood, the power lines outside are merely sagging under the weight of the ice.

Some forecasts were calling for up to 1/2 a foot by 6AM this morning, so when I woke up and saw only a dusting I drove to into work, hoping that the bulk of the snow that they're calling for either doesn't show or is down and mostly off the main roads before I drive home this afternoon.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

High wind warnings in the mountains this morning. I don't live in the mountains. Rush, PDX; I don't know how it is your way today but it's sustained 30 mph here in Longmont with gusts stronger than I've ever seen since moving here.

Plus it's already over 70 degrees on it's way to 80 for today. Winter is great.

A little windy, and saw the first sandals and sundresses of the season..

Glad we don't have wind like they had up in Jackson, they had 90+ winds, even broke off a couple of the big power towers.

So the wife and I planned a little getaway to Monterey and headed out yesterday. Bad timing. It's been raining cats and dogs here and it was a slow crawl on the highway. Finally got here and we're set for a nice evening. Because of the ongoing heavy rain and wind we decided to stay in and eat at the nice hotel restaurant. Just as we are about to order - the lights go out. Power failure. All over the area. We wait. No change. The backup generators only light emergency lights so they close the kitchen. No dinner, but they comp us a couple glasses of wine and a bit of bread.

So after a dinner of two snack bars we had in my luggage, and some commiserating with others in the lobby, we went to bed.

It's morning now, power is restored, weather is better and we are looking forward to a BIG breakfast.

At least you weren't planning a nice leisurely drive south on Highway 1.

I'm looking forward to the doom coming our way. 73 tomorrow, 32 Sunday. 40 degree temp swings don't happen sans tornado in this next of the woods.

(Pretty excited I've spent 12 hours this week raking and bagging all the dead shit that fell out of my trees over the winter. Yards gonna look like shit again before it gets green enough to mow it.

One of the positives of the wind is it knocked over my neighbor's basketball hoop, and it appears to be broken. That might help keep the noise down in the neighborhood as the neighbor's kid can be very loud when he and his friends shoot hoops. On the downside, he'll now have more time rev the engine of his car repeatedly before he drives off, which he does at all hours of the day.

Have I mentioned I don't like my neighbors?

The same thing happened to one of my neighbors a couple weekends ago, but I feel bad because the kid was out there all the time playing and it reminded me of me when I was his age. I even stopped to help them put it back up and wished I could've fixed the rim somehow. He looked bummed.

Had at least 2" of snow this morning at around 6 when I walked the dog. The township made a push to get people to remove cars from the street with multiple notifications, and my street was actually clear for once. Seems like they may have dialed back the forecasts overnight as the storm settled on a path, but we're still looking for about a foot.
