Fantasy Football Advice

Post by The Sybian »

Someone had to start this. 10 team keeper league, you can choose to keep 0-4 players, giving up draft pick based on where they were drafted the previous year, and how many years kept. I have 3 definite keeps, but I'm considering the 4th. I drafted Antonio Gates in the 16th (final) round last year, so I can keep him for a 15th rounder. Seems like a no-brainer, but I really don't want him as my starting TE, and I don't particularly want to draft 2. What is the general consensus on this, other than it is a meaningless choice?

ETA: I am keeping Le'Veon Bell, and DeAngelo Williams will only cost me a 7th round pick. I have to go with Williams, right?

I personally hate having players like Gates and Shonn Greene and Larry Fitz who I don't like but who get volume and whom I feel I have to start.

But I'd rather have Gates in the 15th than Williams in the 6th if you really want to keep a 4th.

What are you giving up for Bell? Who's the third keeper?

I was going to go with Decker for a 5th as mine in a standard 14-team league, but probably going to keep James White with a 12th now.

Auction league draft is tomorrow night. No real clue how to go about this! Should be interesting.

I'd focus on paying big for like two guys I know will stay healthy and finish the year in the top 10 in relative scoring then jumping on upside guys and midseason pickups who will also stay healthy and finish in the top 10 in relative scoring. Hope that helps!

Tampa Bay is reporting good things about drafting a kicker in the 2nd round.

YMMV.

1st Round: Antonio Brown
5th Round: Mike Evans
6th Round: Bell
7th Round Williams

The value of rounds is skewed, due to many early round picks going late. Bell was injured going into his rookie year, so I was able to get him late, like 11th round. Williams would actually cost me a 7th round. I'm really just interested in him for the first 3 weeks with Bell suspended, and as a handcuff to Bell. I'm happy with giving up a 7th rounder. If I didn't have Bell, I wouldn't be looking at Williams. I don't really want Gates, but he is just a great value play at 15. I gotta go with Williams.

I did one of those once, 'bought' 3 of the first-round type RBs, and did very well.

If you're picking 1-1, you use 1-1 on Brown and keep someone lower down. Its a freebie.

No, but someone was able to do that a couple years ago. Keepers only have 3 years eligibility as a keeper. Guy who had the clear #1 that year had the first pick. Dropped (AP?) who had one year keepability left, drafted him first and reset the 3 year clock. We choose draft order in reverse of prior year's standings. I chose the #9 out of 10 spot since 10 was taken.

12 man league, 1 keeper. AJ Green or Brandon Marshall. Brandon Marshall scored 3.7 points per game more in our league last year .5 PPR I believe. AJ is 4 years younger than Brandon 28 to 32.

I ended up with a weird team. It was he first auction draft for about 8 of us so it was erratic I think. But I'm pretty happy overall.

Devonta freeman, Kelce, Maclin, luck, roetisberger(I told you it got weird), Bengals d, steelers D(see!), Derrick henry, Matt forte, Doug Baldwin gostkowski, and mike Evans.

Start 4 RBs (8 team league). My starters are L Murray, M Ingram, J Stewart, M Gordon. Depth is Washington (Murray's handcuff), C Micheal, & Buck Allen. Drop Buck Allen for either Tevin Campbell or Terrence West?

I could also drop Sterling Shepherd, I'm loaded at WR (start 4 b/w ODB, Julio, Watkins, Fitz, Devante Parker, and Tajhe Sharpe)

I feel both ESPN and CBSSports.com should post here, seeing as how both sites were down for quite some time today.

Happens every year with the latter. Like they can't predict there will be a large number of people visiting their website on the first Sunday of the season or something.

Still have a 17.5 lead after not starting Melvin Gordon. He has Williams going tonight, so I have a feeling I'm going to be pissed of come tomorrow.

Ha. Meant to comment on the original post. I can't even begin to comprehend 4 starting RBs in an 8 team league, so it is damn tough to strategize. I love Tevin Campbell as a sleeper, and took Terrence West in another league. The Ravens backfield is a mess, and I can see a possibility of West winning out. This draft was before the Ravens resigned Forsett, and there were rumors of cutting him and Dixon got injured. I think Coleman takes over for Freeman by midseason.

My league is actually 2 RBs and 2 Wild Cards. I just always play RBs there. I ended up getting West b/c I hesitated picking up Ware. Tevin Campbell is still out there. Trying to figure out how much FAAB to spend on him.

ETA: I like Tevin Campbell too for another reason. A good friend of mine was on a reality show called The Agent and he courted Campbell at Indiana. He didn't get him (he does represent his teammate at IU), but he's been on my radar ever since.

Could be a long year for Todd Gurley and the folks who own him on their fantasy teams. He went #1 overall in the Swamp Premiership.

A tough thing in fantasy football is when you have a key player who might/might not play in his game on Monday night. That's the situation I'm in this week with Cam Newton, in both my leagues. Fortunately, I have decent backups, so I'm most likely rolling with them.

When it's a concussion, I'd put extra weight on the player not playing. The independent medical evaluations prevent teams from throwing a guy in before they should, and unlike most injuries, they can't just shoot him full of cortisone and let him play through the injury.

My opponent this week has Cam and his backup his Osweiler. I snagged Anderson off waivers in hopes he'll have to start Brock against that Minnesota D. I'm predicting the Texans are shut out this weekend again. So yeah, hope Cam is out.

I'd play the top three.

I tossed a coin and just switched Cousins for Philip Rivers. a hunch...

Mahomes got me 50 in the league I'm in with a few Swampers. I would've won with Tyrod too. I almsost would've won without a QB! Bortles gave me 41 in another league. I'd be 4-0 overall in my pay leagues had I not swapped Mariota in for Bortles last week.
